Re: AUDACITY Help section

"Everything is gray just before the dawn." Tolstoy?? Abbott and Costello?

Anyway, a lot of options come alive when you put a music segment on the time line and select some of it.

Re: Swtching from PC to Mac...how do I open files?

I know a lot more about how the files work now. If you exported the work as Windows WAV files on the PC, those should open up just fine pretty much everywhere. That piano trill will play on Windows, Linux, and Mac machines. It's when you start saving the Audacity Project files that the water gets se...

Re: Puzzled by filename.aup.bak

<<<Sometimes filename.aup.bak.bak. >>> Are you sure about that one? I couldn't make that one happen, but I more or less know how the others work. <<<I edit a sound file and save it from time to time.>>> You wouldn't believe how complicated this is. The .aup is a supervisory project file. There's no ...

Re: Can't Use Effects on MP3's

Just to cover the bases, you can't apply affects to anything unless you select some of the track first. You are doing that, right?

Re: Best way to record live show off board?

There might be another problem with your microphone input--or your understanding of it. It's not a leap of faith to know that if you look at the 1/8" plug golden rings on a sound cable that the tip is usually Left Sound, the next ring back is usually Right Sound and everything else is almost ce...

Re: Puzzled by filename.aup.bak

<<<which is the latest version?>>>

I'd be looking at the file dates. All computer files carry a creation date. You may not be able to do that inside Audacity, but you can certaiy do it in Finder.

I'm looking at the .bak thing.

Re: Swtching from PC to Mac...how do I open files?

The bad news is I think you have no show. I pushed Audacity Project Files from PC to Mac and then I made new ones and pushed them the other way. No dice. Project files won't play on the wrong platform. They must be exported as WAV or some other common sound format and then transferred. If you have t...

Re: Best way to record live show off board?

You can certainly do much better with an external digital interface (I'm being hysterically entertaining, but that does work, trust me on that) however... <<<sort of tinny and doesn't have much depth.>>> That's not right. Where are you getting your microphone level-mono mix from? You should have a m...

Re: How to have cursor move to stop position

You might be able to go into Audacity, Preferences, Keyboard and assign new functions to the keys.

There are quite a few things that Audacity does that drives video editors nuts. Are you missing the "I" and the "O" keys yet?
