Re: Audio won't play
If you're up to it, you can make Audacity tell you what it needs. ================================================================= Open up the .aup file in TextEdit instead of Audacity. File, Open With. Search the computer code (Apple-F) for the word aliasfile. The words following that will point t...

Re: Clicks created at each edit point
If the program had an "I" and an "O" key (In and Out) like the video people do, you could zoom into each edit and make sure you selected a zero crossing point.

Re: Why does my Audacity keep closing on me?
<<<the cursor "wasn't" moving so freely leading up to it wanting to close. >>> That's an excellent clue. When the computer slowed down, it could be that it was trying to do Something Else and it couldn't handle everything. Live audio (or video) is very computer intensive and it's all in re...

Re: Puzzled by filename.aup.bak
I got another piece of this. Open up the .aup file in TextEdit instead of Audacity. File, Open With. Search the computer code (Apple-F) for the word aliasfile. The words following that will point to the external files and clips that the project needs to open. For example, one of mine says: aliasfile...

Re: automatic login
It's possible you have a permissions issue. Did you install your browser as "Administrator," but you're using it as "Lowly User." Normally, that's a good way to use the computer--it's more secure--but auto logins may fail because the owner of the program and the user don't match....

Re: Trying to open Audacity project file
<<<You can also poke around your .aup file with a text editor >>> Oooo. We'll be doing that later. Good to know. .aup files always travel with _data folders and some of the _data folders are standing on the original capture or imported sound clips. If any of them are missing or damaged, an import wi...

Re: Puzzled by filename.aup.bak
<<<I presume the "cloud of different files" are the ones in the folder filename_data?>>> Nope. That would be too easy. The files inside the _data folder draw the waveform on the screen and In Some Conditions contain Some of the sound. The rest of the sound can, sometimes, reside on the ori...

Re: recording problem
WireTap Pro happened to do what I wanted and was the easy to use. There is a non-pro version and I think there are other programs out there that claim to do the same thing. You do need to worry about one thing. All these programs smooch themselves between the computer and the audio output services. ...

Re: Audio won't play
<<<I'm stumped -- any ideas?>>> Yes, unfortunately. Project files are silent and some of the audio_data files are, too. Some projects insist on standing on the original capture WAV files. Did you "Clean Up" all those old sound files you weren't using any more, or disconnect a portable capt...

Re: Clicks created at each edit point
Just because I can't think of anything else to do, export a small segment with clicks in it as a WAV file. ClickTest.wav. Close everything. Open Audacity fresh and open ClickTest.wav. Does it still click and can you see them now?
