Re: "Zero Crossing Point" - from Koz - ??
Oh, yes. The question. It doesn't matter what the sound is, they all cross zero volts/infinity dB. Metro Bus, United Airliner, doesn't matter. If you can hear it, it's going to cross that red line. The easiest way to find that in Audacity is use the non-dB marked timeline, pull the picture as tall a...

Re: "Zero Crossing Point" - from Koz - ??
<<<I assume this is where the waveform approaches 0 db - right?>>> You ready to go screaming into the night? No. It's where it hits zero volts. And it hits zero volts at infinity dB. We use a value system where "Zero dB" is as loud as the system gets. It's more accurately 0dBFS; zero dB Fu...

I agree. So does the CBC who actually commissioned the work.

Re: Can't Use Effects on MP3's
To recap, you said that you selected some audio and the tools were all gray. Latham told you that you had to select some audio for the tools to work. You said everything was fine now. That's a Burns and Allen moment, isn't it? Can you spread a little more information as to what actually happened the...

Re: automatic login
Just a suggestion. Don't go nuts looking for something that's not there. Typically security services--logins--fail when the system can't tell who you are. That typically fails when something about you doesn't match, like the login to your computer doesn't match the login to the forum. Something like...

Re: Lost AUDACITY data file
I can't think of a good stupid joke here, so I'll just dig you out. Rain check. The "Save" options all produce Audacity Project files, not sound files. Project files are what you want if you're in the middle of an insanely complicated edit with 35 sound clips and special effects--and you n...

<<<it IS set to 44.1kHz!!!>>>
44.1 KHz, 16 bit, Stereo? 44.1 is only one of the three numbers that have to match.

Re: Swtching from PC to Mac...how do I open files?
You might be able to use this. I posted more information about how the .aup file works: ============================================= Open up the .aup file in TextEdit instead of Audacity. File, Open With. Search the computer code (Apple-F) for the word aliasfile. The words following that will point...
