Re: playback without disabling playthrough?

I'm not ignoring you. I have to find time to set one of the machines up with a similar configuration and then see what happens. My guess is that PlayThrough doesn't automatically toggle. You either have it running or not. That makes it a feature that doesn't fit with what you want, neither broken no...

Re: Can't get audio output through Digi 001

<<<Not really worth it for a free program, doncha think?>>> I don't think anything. It depends on your goal. There is a posting on here of someone producing his own musical performances with a budget of $0.00 His choices are get Audacity to work or have no show. The problem is clearly not Audacity. ...

Re: Want to make older music sound better..what should I do?

Can you post 10 or 20 seconds of it somewhere? Old recordings did lot of things to make the music "fit in the grooves."

Re: Best Recording Rate for Vinyl & tapes ?

Yes, but you need to balance insane quality with insane disk space requirements. 44.1 is considered barely enough for CD playback. All the audiophiles went nuts when they announced the standard. "That's not high enough. We can hear it working." And they could, too. The non-audiophiles open...

Re: Track Editing

<<<Maybe I can contact Yamaha and get them to send me a new copy....>>> They can only say no. It's been my experience that the demo versions of the programs always do something so you can't perform a completed show. Over on the video forum, we always get the person who complains that a software pack...

<<<I don't have any other programs to record audio.>>> You can install QuickTime Pro on your Windows machine and it will record audio from Windows Sound Services. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/podcasting_win.html QuickTime is a free download, but I think they get you for $30 the cost of t...

Re: mp3 Playback Issues

Windows Media and I have had an adversarial relationship ever since it destroyed some valuable sound files I had. Windows Media and MP3s also have an interesting relationship. Microsoft has built into Windows Media some measure of Media Management. When you "upgrade" your WMP, most of the ...

Re: Track Editing

<<<Am I going to like this song>>> The unanswerable question. "Does this dress make me look fat?" If this is what you can afford, then this is what you use. The setups for Audacity claim multi-tracks and I've seen illustrations with at least four tracks on the screen at the same time. Do y...

Re: cant get plug ins to work...noobie please help

Files, Filters, and Tools almost never come down from their web site uncompressed or unprotected. What is the exact name of the filter? Did you have to process it in StuffIt Expander after you downloaded it? If you have a file like "something.sit," then you need to un-stuff it before you u...
