"/" is a very definite place your computer. It's call the root directory, but it may be a little hard to get to.
What file name did you search for? Did you export your clip as a .WAV or .MP3? You're a little fuzzy about how you got that missing file in the first place.

Re: trouble recording using an iMic
Do me a favor and take the iMic out and leave it out for a while. That's just making the water muddy. You didn't do what I asked. Recording from internet radio stations doesn't go through the same pathways that we need to test. Find an iPod or portable CD player or WalkMan or anything like that. Ins...

Re: Recording level
That little cable is one way to record sound that starts out already inside your computer--like internet radio stations. It's not the best way because the sound has to go through digital conversion twice before you get to record it. Right below the meters there is an Audio Source selector in Audacit...

Re: trouble recording using an iMic
Will Audacity record from anything ever? Can you switch it to one of the computer's analog inputs--say the Line In, plug in your iPod or other line level device to the Line In port and record? Or actually, you don't have to go into full record, just click inside the right-hand sound meters. Can you ...

Re: exported files are padded with extra space
Short of running hexdump and telling you what the difference in the data structure is, I can tell you that the older of the two is more friendly to older MP3 players, but the newer one can handle more information about the music at the expense of compatibility. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3#Versi...

Re: trouble recording using an iMic
Oops. Sorry. These are the Mac instructions for the iMic. I need to think about the Windows version. Did you upgrade either Windows, the Service Packs, or Windows Media since you last got it to work? Is there an upgraded iMic driver out there? Koz The "Line/Mic" switch on the iMic doesn't ...
