Re: Audacity 1.2.6 kills Cool Edit 2000
<<<I suspect that Audacity overwrites a system file also required by Cool Edit 2000. Can anyone reveal the name of that file to me?>>> It's possible, but I don't think it's that easy. Do you have any USB sound services of any sort on your machine? A USB microphone or a USB mixer? USB Headphones? Coo...

One?
Tell you what. Find someone with Linux experience. Nobody ever visits over there. I'm going to get one of the Systems Gurus to stop by. They actually got our Linux service to work reliably week after week.

Re: Help!: how do I record in stereo?
While the show is still on the timeline, File, Export as WAV... and produce a Windows WAV file.
That one file should sound fine. The project files should not.

Re: How do I open whole file instead of pieces?
They are right. What is supposed to happen after you complete your performance, effects, and editing, File, Save as a Project and Audacity will produce a project file (piano.aup) and a data folder (piano_data) filled with files which are not exactly sound files. You aren't supposed to mess with them...

Re: Basic questn: why is my sound quality so bad?
We can start with the .aup file which isn't a sound file--or not what you think. Just to remove all the clutter, return Audacity preferences to 44100, 16 bit, stereo. You can mess with this later. Restart the program. Capture a new segment from your high-quality player and while the capture is still...

<<<..help by phone.>>> You mean paid or contract help. Not that I know of. The closest to personal service is the maillist in the middle of this page: http://audacityteam.org/contact/ The program mommies scan this list on occasion and write back to you if they think they can help. I believe the list...

Re: Can't playback MIDI
"Import MIDI" Some operating systems have a midi instrument machine built in. You understand that midi files are instructions how to play an instrument, right? They're not sound files. "Pick up your B-flat flute and play C-sharp below middle C at medium loudness for ten seconds."...
