Re: Hiss problem: Samson G-Track Pro, Windows 10, Audacity
Ideal install is to have the microphone screen directly in front or slightly high. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/lin-manuelMicrophone.jpg It doesn't matter if you have the microphone upside down or not as long as you're (usually) speaking into the company name. His production studio decide...

Re: Hiss problem: Samson G-Track Pro, Windows 10, Audacity
If you have a C01U, why do you need the G-Track? This is the Behringer version of the same microphone. C-1 analog (not USB). That's recommended spacing if you don't have a pop and blast filter. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/HawaiianShakaSpacing-NoScreen-500t.jpg This is an inexpensive micr...

Re: Looking for advice on my recording quality, Behringer mixer and mic
There are production rules not obvious when you're starting out. The live performance should be as perfect as you can make it so you don't have to apply a ton of effects, filters and corrections later. If you can suppress the "Announcer Voice" proximity effect by backing away slightly, you...

Re: Playback too fast
Also, I can't exactly prove this, but it's possible to have speed issues if you try to combine two WAV files at different sampling rates. For example if one was recorded at video rate of 48000 and the other at CD rate of 44100, Audacity won't always be able to figure out what to do. But I agree. Tho...

And use good filename hygiene with no punctuation marks other than -dash- and _underscore_.

Re: Hiss problem: Samson G-Track Pro, Windows 10, Audacity
I'm not sure where to go with this. It sounds exactly like you're not recording on the microphone in front of you. Very high hiss value; odd room echo; muddy, dull voice; polite, restrained volume; and no sparkling presence. My G-Track loaner didn't do any of those things. I think I told the owner i...

Post back with your experiences. That's how we build a log of what works and what doesn't.

Re: Change db level in low pass filter to be less than 6db?
I would like to try four or a different number. Why? Do you have a specific application in mind? Sometimes addressing a question like this in a vacuum isn't useful. The poster may misunderstand what the tools do and is narrowing the question to the wrong tools. "I want to [ real question ] to ...

Re: hardware mixer
Many sound mixers and other microphone interfaces promote the very high quality of their microphone preamplifiers. The show quality will never get any better than whatever the MicPre can do. The sound signal that falls out the bottom of an XLR microphone is super tiny and designers have to start wor...
