Re: How to remove annoying monotone sound?
I think I'm going to give up. The new clip was very slightly easier to use, but I couldn't get a better final show. Very slightly less space alien sound. I did an analysis of the Room Tone (buzzy sound) and it has the same personality as someone talking. I can make use of the fact that the pitch and...

Re: How to remove annoying monotone sound?
I'm hoping that "Space Alien" sound will go away when I get a better clip. The noise removal tools and the MP3 compression tools work on the same Fast Fourier Transform technology and they can fight each other if used in the wrong order. The MP3 compression is supposed to happen as the las...

Re: How to remove annoying monotone sound?
You got a good one there. I posted a corrected clip: http://www.kozco.com/audacity/gm_corrected.wav That's two passes through the Cool Edit noise correction filter (not Audacity). I think the result is terrible and I know why. You picked a noise that has a lot of the same characteristics as the huma...

Can you get a little more particular about the pieces in the middle? The Shure microphone part number______ was plugged into)____, etc. etc. That will help us track the error.

Re: problems with iMic recordings
I will tell you that the early version of the iMic claimed to have a microphone level input and sorta worked, but the recorded show was just so noisy that over half of the users gave up and put it in the garage. You may be solving your own problem, however. If you have reasonable quality microphones...

Re: looking for EZ way to create contoured pulse train
<<<Any ingenius ways to achieve this?>>> I don't know how ingenious this is, but Audacity does everything like that. If you create a simple sine wave on a timeline and zoom all the way in, the little dots on the wave are the sample points. They represent the pulses that make up the wave based on the...

Re: How to remove annoying monotone sound?
I can't put dollars-American on this yet, but did you play the actual DictaPhone tape back on an actual DictaPhone? The same DictaPhone? As near as I can tell, those machines had a control or information track recorded in addition to the actual performance. If you try to play the tape back on an ord...

Re: How to remove annoying monotone sound?
<<<Because of this the voice of my grandmother sometimes is tOo silent.>>> Noise removal only works when you don't need it to. There was another posting on the board of someone who had voice that was being swamped with Something Else. It almost doesn't matter what the Something Else is, once that ha...

What happens when you read that file?
It's remotely possible that the package only works in the Linux version of Audacity given its heritage. The programmer invites comments at the bottom of that page.
