Re: Splitting up large file that gets bogged down does not w

You're still editing the Project. Projects are magic. You can go back to the original show, highlight the first half and Export Selection As WAV... Part_One.wav Then go back to the original show, select the second half and Export Selection as WAV... Part_Two.wav You can edit your brains out with tho...

<<<have you tried it in 1.3.x?>>>

Nope. I gotta download that one of these days.

Re: adjusting the volume

<<<is the other way to do this to place labels>>> Very probably. I know we would all love labels to magically turn into edit points, but they only do that under some restrictive circumstances--like what you want to do. The basic process is the same; once you have individual songs, you have quite a n...

Re: Recording time remaining

<<<if one goes faulty I don't have to re-record everything>>> We use the two spindle approach. You need to be able to point to two different rotating platters with the same valuable data for a successful safety backup. C: and D: physical drives inside the computer counts as does one huge slow extern...

Re: Recording time remaining

<<<if you set Audacity to record to 32 bits it will be half as large>>>

But only in floating point. If you record in straight 32-bit, you will get a much larger file.

Re: Generating *.aup file

My neck hurts. I think I have whiplash from sudden acceleration change. Most people want to know how to change the volume of a song.

Anyway, I would create a roughly similar show to the one you want, save the project and cut and paste the code.

Re: Chaning sample rates mid-recording?

Wait a minute. We missed a step there. If the one mixer USB is going to the speaker system, how is Audacity getting the show? USB doesn't do "live" audio and video as well as FireWire does, and it doesn't share at all.

Re: adjusting the volume

You may not like the way it sounds when you do this, but... Put the performance on your timeline (File, Open...). Select the song you want to adjust. This is the hard part. Audacity doesn't have very good tools for this. Somehow you have to find the first note and last note and select everything in ...

Re: Audacity won't remain on desktop after use

Audacity will only run (that I know of) from the root mounted applications folder. In computerese, that's /Applications. The slash mark means there is nothing higher in the directory tree (even though there actually is if you know where to look). If you get an Audacity shortcut in that folder instea...

Re: Audacity on Intel Macs

The stable versions are good. 1.2.x. I'm not next to my Intel machine, but my PowerBook has 1.2.4. I think the Intel machine has 1.2.6. The latest one is good. They have been checked on many different machines and proved to work. Very few unstable features or bugs. You will be following a well trod ...
