Re: Selecting a digital voice recorder
You can always capture the voice from the device to your computer with an analog cable. I know that's not manly, but it works. Cable the headphone output of the device (turn the volume up) to the Line In of your computer. PC Laptops tend not to have a Line In connection, so that wouldn't work for th...

Re: Filtering noise from voice recordings
Generally, when you get to the unintelligible garbage stage, all the software is going to do is produce much better unintelligible garbage. You might try the Noise Reducer. Select two or three seconds of Room Tone--the sound of the room with nobody speaking. Effect, Noise Removal, Get Noise Profile....

Re: Can't record from tape
<<<my wife's windows laptop, Windows XP, seems to work fine with Audacity when I use my external USB soundcard.>>> I told you not to tell me that. You may be out of luck. Unlike Macs, Windows laptops tend to only have microphone inputs. That makes the signal you're trying to record roughly 1000 time...

Re: two micrphone recording
Audacity will accept up up 16 audio channels from any one audio device. It will not accept more than one device, so no, you can select either of the USB microphones, not both. You should be able to do this whether or not you have a sound card in your machine. The sound card counts as one device. Lot...

Re: Audacity keeps crashing out
We know that one of the early versions of 1.2.x had a memory leak and would choke itself shortly after launching and being used. But that shouldn't affect 1.3.x. One of the common responses is to make sure you have the most updated drivers for all your hardware. There was another poster that had Sud...

Re: Audacity 1.2.6 and Mac OSX 10.4.10
Half way home. Create a fresh folder on the desktop called Audacity. Pull that folder over to your /Applications folder in the Systems Drive. Then pull all the files and folders from the temporarily mounted desktop drive over to this new folder. Done. Launch Audacity by double clicking the applicati...

Re: Can't record from tape
You may be confusing the ins and outs. You need a cord with two male ends like this: http://kozco.com/audacity/LRShield.jpg One connects to your tape player in place of your headphones and the other connects to--I think it's the blue connector on your sound card. It's should have a symbol of a fan w...
