Re: Can't connect Bass Guitar via Behringer UM2
Baby steps. You have your bass connected to the INST 2, instead of your amp, right? UM2 POWER light is on? Turn up INST 2 GAIN and OUTPUT all the way. Plug headphones into the headphone socket. You may need an adapter depending on your headphones. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/HeadphoneAda...

Re: Using a external USB soundcard to record on Macbook
That's the wrong USB adapter. That one likely provides mono, super sensitive, microphone input and stereo headphone output. It's designed to replace a Windows laptop sound connections. You want a bi-directional, stereo, USB adapter such as the Behringer UCA-202. This is mine connected to my sound mi...

Re: Changes to Clip Fix
Everybody wants Clip Fix to plow through an hour show automatically fixing all the clipping damage. Last I looked, it will only repair one at a time.

Re: Changes to Clip Fix
Something has to get reduced. You're in this pickle because the show was too loud and some of the performance went over. Unless you reduce the volume the fix isn't going to fit. Did you try to zoom way in and just select the area immediately around the damage? Are you saying the old Clip Fix used t...

Re: I want Clear Voice with this recording
This may be a little better. I used the Profiles from the same places, but I used a gentler Noise Reduction of 9-6-6.
It's a little less likely to dump the volume when his voice goes down at the end.

Re: I want Clear Voice with this recording
Does this help? AlcazarClip1-DoubleNoiseReduced.wav Sometimes you can use Noise Reduction in strange ways. I selected some of the echo-only at 4 seconds and used that as the profile. Select the whole clip > Effect > Noise Reduction > 12-6-6. Then I selected some of the echo at 1-1/2 seconds. Select ...

Re: Fix distortion on audio file
I can split the audio from the video and deal with it separately. Audacity can do that. You may need to install FFMpeg "helper" software. You need a separate video editor to put the sound back in the video. Don't fall in love with ClipFix. That was designed to fix occasional overload dist...

Re: Recording with two audio tracks not possible
We've tried deactivating the microphone on the headset, but it is not possible to only deactivate the microphone, but only the headset as a whole. That would be my first guess. Your headset is a complex device that doesn't play well with speaker/playback routing. Can you borrow plain headphones jus...

Re: Cannot record silence
why things were one way for me for several years, and then suddenly got different. Windows 10 update? Windows has made it so you can't opt out of their updates. There have been some nasty surprises as Microsoft closed parts of the system off from evil software, viruses and break-ins. I could start ...

Re: Entering microphone response curve compensation in the equalization effect
We came in in the middle of the movie. Why do we want to do this? It may seem that having a ruler-flat microphone is a good thing but it's a safe bet that it's not the case. Behold Nataly Dawn from Pomplamoose. NatalyAndU87.png She's standing in front of a U87 microphone. Anybody who has ever heard ...
