Re: Disable voice-activated recording?

Yes, I begin to see the problem. You got the Mini before the Intel switch and those machines didn't have audio inputs. <<<> Does your iMic work on a different computer?<>>> <<<Yes.>>> Which different computer? Do you have QuickTime Pro? iLife? Wiretap Pro? Koz

Re: Disable voice-activated recording?

I have the Intel version of that machine. It's my VCR. I don't think this in Audacity problem at all. If the Preference panel is wrong, then it's a basic machine problem. If you look on the back of your Mini, so you have a small audio connector with the icon of two triangles and a small circle? That...

Re: Display

I see what the problem is. The number doesn't follow you unless you explicitly move the cursor.

That whole selection/cursor/marker thing could use some serious work.

Re: Display

No scrubbing. Sorry.

On the version I have, the cursor position time is called out at the bottom left of the window.

Re: naming my files

The song names qualify as "metadata" and that's handled very differently depending on the music format and the machine that's running it. When you put a CD in your computer and it plays and the song names show up, it means the computer went out the internet to get the names. There are no s...

Re: How do I get the best quality MP3s?

You can't "upgrade" MP3s. You throw them away and make new ones at a higher bitrate from your WAV files which is why I stress stressfully that you capture in the very highest quality you can lay your hands on--and not a compressed format. You can always go downhill but it's a one-way road....

Yes. In one sweep it solves all your capture problems. I use the paid version all the time--and WireTap Pro on the Mac.

Re: Trying to Record Conversations

You just stepped out of my area of expertise. Now you're actually editing and I'm not an editor. I know I would not be trying to edit in MP3 land. Audacity has to decompress MP3 clips and tracks to WAV to edit them and then convert the whole thing back later. Major pain in the butt. Much better capt...
