Re: Where is the MP3 Converter
You didn't "Save," you "Exported as MP3..." You can't create MP3s without paying license fees, so Audacity can't include that tool in its built-in kit. They make you get it from somewhere else, in this case, the "lame" encoder which is open-source and was designed not t...

Re: stereo export
<<<export a left and right channel>>> So you created two mono tracks, one with violins and one with piano. You want to end up with one stereo track with violins on the left and piano on the right. What you got was a massive mono mix that happens to come out two speakers. I'm being really particular ...

Re: stereo export
<<What format does audacity use to save a file.>>> The famous Audacity "Gotcha." Audacity doesn't save as a file. It saves as a "project" which is an XML supervisory file and a cloud of clips, pieces, shards, fragments, and graphic files. The only way to get one single sound file...

<<<the quality is acceptable>>>
It should be. Most people can't tell the quality shift in 44100 (CD Quality) from the real thing. Anything higher than that is a waste of bits--especially given you're not capturing a live performance.

Re: stereo export
I can't tell from the question what you actually want, but you can split a stereo track into individual left and right with the black down arrow on the left of the track, Split Stereo Track. Select either one and export. If you want to end up with one stereo track from two captures, you may want to ...

Re: Changing Pitch (Without Changing Tempo)
Fascinating. And near as I can tell, it always gets shorter, too, so it's not a directional problem. I wonder if the algorithm they use makes bad assumptions about the clip. I wonder if this happens to the other two platforms.
Yup. it's broke for me, too.

Re: unable to download Audacity
Do you have the original ZIP files from the other install? Can you download the zip file on another computer, burn it to a data CD and walk it over? Do you have trouble downloading anything else? It does sound like your virus software doesn't like this web site. Most software like this gives you the...
Re: No Sound
We may be able to solve both of these with one panel. Audacity, AudacityPreferences, Audio I/O Select Hardware Playthrough or Software Playthrough to hear during capture. Make sure the Playback Device selected at the top of that panel is something you actually have. Whatever you select, make sure th...

Re: Turning a file into a podcast/Publishing Rights
<<<how can we turn a file that we've recorded onto Audacity into a podcast>>> If you capture your own performance into Audacity, Export it as WAV and import it into iTunes. Either select the file and File, Open-With, iTunes; or open iTunes first and File, import and go find the file. Then follow the...
