Re: problem with recording sounds comming out of my speakers
Let's see, this is the Windows forum. Did you plug your sound player into the MIC IN instead of the LINE IN by accident? I'm assuming you're recording from something outside the computer? If you're recording a streaming radio show, then you may have your sound panels set wrong. It's easy to set one ...

Re: stereo export
My spidey sense is tingling.
Go up here and download the Left, Right clip. Dump it onto a stereo 48 KHz timeline and play it. Still have mono?

Re: Noob questions: Audacity vs. Finyl Vinyl; Normalizing/EQ
Shucks. The link is 40 miles long. Go onto RadioShack.com and search "Phono Preamp." I've had several of those and they all work very well. $30, new inna box. As a fuzzy rule of thumb, avoid "USB Powered" in the specifications. It looks grand in the ads (NO! POWER! CORD!!) but th...

Re: Noob questions: Audacity vs. Finyl Vinyl; Normalizing/EQ
Oh. Sorry. I missed my cue. I'm supposed to be horrified that you're using an iMic. Quite a large number of people found the iMic unacceptable for even the minimum quality sound work. It's so cheap (how cheap is it, Johnny?) it's so cheap that they didn't filter the power coming from the computer ve...

<<<I have a folder of 146 b00###.au files>>> http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1253 I think he's blowing smoke. Until someone posts exactly how they got it to work, I'm going with you can't do it. Especially since I know that at least two of those files are graphic files, not so...

Re: Where is the MP3 Converter
<<<Yeah yeah, exported, not saved.>>>
That's important in Audacity because the programmers have an odd view of what's supposed to happen when using those tools. If you catch the wrong one you could damage your show pretty badly.

Re: stereo export
Mixing two tracks almost has to be done intentionally. It's rough to believe it happened by accident. I'll figure it out later when I get home--or if somebody else posts. One thing to try. I understand this is a little Laurel and Hardy, but what happens if you capture about three seconds of anything...

Re: Noob questions: Audacity vs. Finyl Vinyl; Normalizing/EQ
Add the RIAA curve? Doesn't the capture service do that--or have it built into the turntable itself? That's one thing nobody is going to figure out how to do. Are you running a straight turntable directly into the audio inputs of the computer? You know that doesn't match, right? A phono amplifier no...

Re: Recording streaming audio
I think the earlier WireTap Pro used to run on earlier operating systems. I guess Studio doesn't. You can use WireTap to record anything that goes through your computer--either direction. Then you can save the work as a WAV file, open it in Audacity, edit it as appropriate, and export as a new WAV. ...
