Re: USB audio codec

<<<the recorded sound level through it is very low though playback is very normal.>>> Stop trying to listen to it while you're recording. That's dangerous. If you get the red recording bouncing lights in the right place and the waveform is correct--and it plays OK, then everything is working as it s...

Re: recording in stereo

Audacity doesn't always pay attention to the preferences until you restart the program--and maybe the machine.

Re: saving

Yes, Save doesn't actually save anything, a confusing point we're trying to make to the Audacity programmers. The only way to do this is to pull the audio tracks from the CD and put them in a folder on the local drive. Then use them in a project. Audacity will stick pointing to them instead of the r...

Re: Voice removal

<<<Whats the best way to erase voice from a song in Audacity.>>> The only way to remove a singer from a song that you don't have the original mix for is Center Channel Removal and it's pretty much the same for all the packages. It's a little late to start digging, but there is a VST plugin on the Au...

Re: stereo export

It's kozco.com, but a lot of the more exotic stuff is hidden because they're dangerous. If you put a straight 20 to 20,000 audio sweep into a speaker, it will blow the tweeters into charred fragments. I just hate it when that happens. One of these days, I gotta straighten all that web site stuff out...

Re: Recording Phone calls

And the only reason any of this is going to work is that you don't intend to talk. Don't for a minute think equipment under a couple of thousand dollars will record both sides of the conversation very well. They won't. With this cheap stuff, you may still find that your local breathing, microphone, ...

Re: stereo export

Not being willing to let sleeping dogs lie, did you notice that the tone sounds different after the MP3? Then if you remount the show in Audacity, it doesn't look the same, either? You may have unintentionally walked into heavy audio technology. MPEG1 Layer 3 works by messing with the energy that le...

Re: Where is the MP3 Converter

<<<There's all this run-around "try this" and "maybe that.">>> Yes, but we can't say, "Mine is working just fine so you must be stupid." That's neither helpful or constructive. The best we can do is reverse the problem and try to think of things to change that will eith...
