Re: project and file naming conventions
Some fuzzy opinions and observations. Step one. Make the computer reveal filename extensions. There's just nothing quite like seeing three of the exact same name and trying to decipher from the pretty graphic which one goes with what. .WAV are the perfect quality Microsoft wav files typical of raw p...

Re: Sample WAV for ACX - Produce a Simple Audacity Forum Voice Test
The Blue Yeti microphone documentation says it's supposed to be recording at 48000 48000 is the video sampling rate. 44100 is the one used with Audio CDs. Either one should work although I believe ACX is expecting 44100. Many people use the Yeti with video and YouTube production where 48000 is a na...

Re: Sample WAV for ACX - Produce a Simple Audacity Forum Voice Test
There. That wasn't too hard. Screen Shot 2020-02-15 at 7.24.20.png The specification for noise is -60dB, but it's a good idea to pass it by at least -65dB (quieter). There's a little fudge built into Peak as well. The official specification is no louder than -3dB. The suite delivers -3.5dB (quieter)...

Re: RMS normalize plugin
Before you try to automate The Process, you should see if you can get The Process to work manually on your sample. Screen Shot 2020-02-15 at 4.16.02.png That's from here: https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audiobook_Mastering The posted suite guarantees Peak and RMS. The only variable after that is ...

Re: Sample WAV for ACX - Produce a Simple Audacity Forum Voice Test
could you tell me if this sample can work for ACX mastering? I can. No. I think you're recording your laptop microphone instead of the Yeti. It's very noisy and you sound muffled and like you're recording in a small wooden box. I made the two second Room Noise segment intentionally louder. tomwood ...

and the mic I have Which is.....? I do prefer doing it case-by-case rather than over the whole chapter You're going to patch a whole book word by word? How close are you to retirement? DeEsser is designed to rip down a whole chapter and only hit those words where the SSS sounds are proportionally l...

Re: Increase playback speed without changing pitch for audiobook editing?
That seems to work. I applied simple audiobook mastering and then ACX-Check. You should pass noise by at least -65dB and this clip does that (-66dB is quieter/better.) Screen Shot 2020-02-14 at 14.08.19.png The presentation is a little sharp, crisp and "essy." I applied DeEsser and it seem...

Start a new thread. Keeping with multiple people on the same thread is a nightmare.

Re: Increase playback speed without changing pitch for audiobook editing?
Huge learning curve. You are replacing a recording studio and engineer. The home microphone people keep insisting you can set up their microphone on the kitchen table and start recording your book. Maybe not. Make sure you have a WAV protection backup of your work. You can apply Effect > Change Tem...

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! Can I remove echo from my audiobook recording?
I ran another check on this file There is no "This File." They are complaining about multiple different files not matching each other, and a mix of Stereo and Mono through the whole book. All these problems are show stoppers. Even if you Master that one single file, it's not going to matc...
