Re: best way to edit out background noise
<<<I suppose theoretically possible.>>> No, it's not. If you both had original digital audio bitstream copies of the game--you with the extra voices, then certainly, invert and subtract. You, however, have a copy of the game filtered through the TV speaker, camera microphone, audio processing, and f...

Re: Waveform light shaded inner area
In video we have the bad joke of applying the "reshoot filter."

Re: Find Zero Crossings doesn't work properly
<<<+/-0.01 (out of 1)>>> A lot of Audacity tools run out of poop at -24dB (roughly 1/100), so I'm not shocked that the zero crossing tool does, too. You might consider using decibels while you're in audio land (black down arrow to the left of the waveforms) instead of percent. "Half Level"...

Re: Waveform light shaded inner area
Clipping is usually one of the fatal problems. Even if you manage to "rebuild" the waveforms, the performance will change, but not always sound any better. So you had analog clipping, right? If you see waveforms going over the clipped signals, then an audio board, processor, or transmissio...

Re: Playback speed
That happens when the track isn't in a format that Audacity recognizes. Apple AAC, MPEG4, H.264, etc. All foreign to Audacity. You need to convert the tracks to something Audacity can chew on. I think one of the Windows Media versions can do that. Or Google audio format converters for Windows. Koz

Re: best way to edit out background noise
Certainly. It happens all the time in video capture. Usually by someone who hasn't gotten burned before. You can't separate two voices from a track. You might stand a chance of killing a low air conditioner whine or rumble in the show, but what you're doing is in the same category as echoes. You can...

Re: Fast Foward and Exporting
The spacebar starts and stops the playback. Click anywhere inside the timeline to start at that point, and press [space]. Half-way starts in the middle of the song. <<<What program do I need in order to export as a .mp3?>>> This one, but it's not straightforward. Because of the extraordinarily high ...

Re: Suddenly Crashing
Did you mount or unmount any portable drives? Audacity doesn't like its cache drive suddenly vanishing. How full is the System Drive? We assume you've been working on the machine and you did change things because it's fuller now than it was before.
