<<<I had the same problem and tried all of the above to no avail.>>> All of the above? You reinstalled fresh to a /Audacity folder under /Applications and put the lame software in the Plug-Ins folder? You can always encode to MP3 or AAC using iTunes, so it isn't like you're forced to use the one in ...

Re: LameLib
OK, let's get compulsive, my favorite activity past gardening. Get the INFO on your lame file and open up that extension on the bottom that nobody ever goes to. Collect the machine information and folder names--accurately. Here's mine: ==================================== --Jimmy-- Mac Mini 1.83 GHz...

Re: Not recording and bad static noise
The problem with a ratty USB port is that if you're using it to transfer files like pictures, it might hit bad noise and just keep trying until it forces the file through. The USB might be remarkably bad and still work. Not so with audio. That's streaming and it can't stop and wait or try over and o...

Re: Not recording and bad static noise
The turntable platter on my belt-driven Empire takes two hands to lift. Between the weight and the belt, (and the shock mounted motor) there are no errors. The problem with trying to make up the difference with technology instead of mass and weight is that motor servo systems are never perfect. They...

Re: New to Mac and to Audacity - 1st Steps
If you get that far, the very next oddball thing you're going to run into is that when you "save" the show, Audacity doesn't save anything. You have to export a WAV to get something that will email. Once you have your WAV file, you can import into iTunes and depending on where your iTunes ...

Re: Not recording and bad static noise
What you might have is a bad USB connection. That happens a lot. Does anything else work in that connection like a printer? Try different USB connections or if you have a different Mac, try that just to make sure you don't have a broken turntable. The IONs are stunningly cheap for what you get. Some...

Re: New to Mac and to Audacity - 1st Steps
I think you're working too hard. Apple, Preferences, Sound, Internal Microphone. You should see the bouncing balls move when you speak. Open Audacity and click once inside the right-hand meters. You should see bouncing lights (it may take a second). Somewhere in the lower middle of the Audacity Bann...
