Re: external microphone
<<<I am new to Audacity.>>> And the forum. I would personally have started a new thread. It messes up the search system when you do this. <<<I can hear through the cans when recording, but not during playback.>>> Some equipment takes over both record and playback. Move the playback back to Mac Inter...

Re: Newbie question.....is this program for me???
MP3 (derived from an earlier video compression scheme: MPEG1, Layer III) can carry information other than music. This is grandly called "Meta Data" and can tell you Title, Author, etc. Also, in this case called "tags." WAV (WAVE) format can't do that. Meta Data was once explained...

Re: Audacity program only recording right channel
A little more information would have been good, like what are you trying to record, but Audacity wakes up from first birthday only recording one audio channel. See Preferences.

Re: LameLib
Yes, well, before you leave, if you had to design code that would do that, how would you do it? I personally consider it a bug, by the way. I'm sure some programmer stayed up nights making it do that, but it's been burning people right and left ever since. Final Cut video editing software has some o...

Re: removing quiet voices in the background
<<<...trying to iron out any technical issues as early as possible.>>> Iron them out before Audacity. You can't remove voices from voices. I would totally figure out where the leak is coming from. I would be coordinating on one computer and recording on another if I had to. Another place to look, if...

Re: How can I add mp3 files to play consectutively?
Cut and paste seems to work for me. Select the song you want to insert into a track, cut (or copy), select the insert point on the new track and paste. The only thing you might have to worry about is discontinuous edits. You may get a click or pop at the insert point. You'll need to go in with one o...

Re: Overlapping tracks cut off
That is an odd one.
Were all the songs at the same binary standard--were they all 48000/16/2 WAV format, for example?
What happens if you save a project with that name and then export a new wave from that?
Does the performance still play after you saved but before you exported?

Re: Can only Record to Left Channel
<<<I was never a Mac fan but I think the tides may be starting to turn.>>> It would turn a lot faster if your computer didn't have Noah's fingerprints on it. For one serious problem, you are still vulnerable to older Mac viruses. The newer machines are converting a lot of die-hard PC fans (like, oh,...

Re: LameLib
You have the wrong Audacity. Intel machines should be on 1.2.5.
