Re: removing quiet voices in the background
I didn't mean to jump up and down on your show, but you should never go into a project with the intention of producing damage and then try to clean it up later. You will have enough cleaning up to do without that. <<<The voices in the background is the noise coming from the headphones.>>> Acoustic l...

I would be posting this question to one of the trouble forums above. That way we automatically know the type of computer and software version you are using and not have to start asking you. This forum is for forum related issues. Do you like the forum colors? That graded blue in the banner is nice. ...

Re: microphone volume won't stay up
In Windows machines, Audacity has to work through Windows Sound Services to the sound card. If anything in that chain is wacky or broken, you will get really odd behavior in Audacity. Check the sound card drivers. By this, I really mean tell us a bit about your machine so we have a fighting chance. ...

<<<I do understand about tags and metadata, but I like your TV guide analogy>>> Someone was trying to introduce the meta data concept and it was all cloudy and fuzzy until they said that. It's like, what possible relevance could meta data have in my life? What are you talking about? As for the absol...

Re: Better way to record...maybe presonus
A conventional Mackie? Take the line output of the Mackie and plug it into the Line In of the computer (fan icon pointing inside). Set up Audacity and press record. We use a different sound board, but that's exactly the way we record a weekly company meeting in the theatre. Pick one of the other Mac...

Re: RECORDING difficulty
Oh, the next most popular Windows problem is trouble with the sound card. Update the sound card drivers.

I bet you're on a Windows machine. You may be hosting a {word rejected} web site in the background which is causing instability when you try to use your machine. When was the last time you ran your virus software and updated it? Checked and defragged your hard drive? Are there several real, actual u...

Re: How can I add mp3 files to play consectutively?
<<<The exporting of MP3 can take a long time (but is a smaller file) Export as a WAV is quicker, but is a bigger file>>> Just a quick note. MP3 damages the show slightly and WAV doesn't. MP3 should never be used in the middle of production because the damage adds up as you edit. Koz

Re: removing quiet voices in the background
<<<you can hear other people very quietly on that track once he stops speaking.>>> Cool. Who are those other voices? You may need to identify them and clean them up ahead of time. What you're looking for is a compander, a voice keyer, auto ducking, noise gate, or a KeyPex none of which are included ...

Re: distortion with voice recording
I've always said Audacity is the window through which you can view your broken computer. Has any of this ever worked? Have you used the headset with any other application? Has the sound card in your computer ever worked right? I can think of at least five different places this could be broken. You h...
