Re: can't move project files

You know Projects aren't sound files, right? They're traffic cops. If you move a project, you have to move the aup file, the _data folder and all the original capture clips. Oh, and put them all back together in the right order and place. Miss one original clip or put it in the wrong folder on the n...

Re: Heavy distorted/clipping when recording

All that and you missed one. You have a line level device (you didn't actually say where the show was coming from) plugged into a microphone level input of the machine.

That will give you a 1000 to 1 overload that you can't control. Clip city.

Re: Using Audacity to equalize tracks prior to burning

I don't think you did what you think you did. I don't seem to find half the buttons you pushed. What version of Audacity to you have?

Help, About Audacity...

Re: new digital voice recorder

Close Audacity and get the system to work with Windows Sound Recorder. If you can't get that to work, Audacity will never work. Audacity is standing on the Windows Sound Services. <<<Windows Sound Recorder is a great idea, it's in the Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment>>> Koz

Re: Are there known issues running in Windows Vista?

Vista and Leopard both created some interesting stability problems for Audacity. Vista took the normally adversarial relationship with drivers and made it a lot more....interesting.

Leopard scrambled the user interface. "How come when I press this button, that happens?"

Close audacity and restart it after you get Windows Sound Recorder to work.

Audacity 1.3.x will never be stable. The release version will be 1.4.

Re: Struggling to record audio played on the computer

Just for form, try Window''s own sound recorder: <<<Windows Sound Recorder is a great idea, it's in the Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment>>> Audacity is a complete slave to Window's internal sound services. If Windows can't see it, Audacity can't see it. Koz

Re: Recording through iTunes?

<<<I just tried it and it works really well.>>> That means you're redigitizing and you have to have external speakers. Many music people would say that doesn't count, but if it works for you, that's OK. Others would go with a free version of WireTap or other software which is all internal and works ...

Re: How to auto-stop recording on silence of x seconds

There are no timers in Audacity. This is a Feature Request to be included in the next version.

It's possible 1.3.x has something.
