Re: Changing voice to a different voice? help!
<<<is there any way to change the voice pattern>>> The down side of all these tools is that they don't take the voice out and put it somewhere. They take it out by destroying it. They work by vocal cancellation. You can play the voiceless orchestration back into headphones and then sing or ask someb...

Re: audacity will only record from mic.
It would have been good to post this on one of the forums further up so we don't have to start asking you questions like:
What kind and age computer have you got?
Operating System and version?
The long Audacity version number?

Re: vst-bridge crash
<<<I will go ahead and use the beta unless I run into too many problems with it. I am all set.>>>
OK.
I will tell you that repeated crashing on a Mac is most unusual and having a known good stable program do it is especially worrying. How full is your hard drive?

Re: Display SPL vs time?
<<<Alatham, you mention calibrating my SPL meter to work with Audacity. I had assumed that Audacity wouldn't be able to show me what the actual dB readings are; if there's a way to calibrate the SPL meter with Audacity such that the actual, measured, in room sound level is displayed I'd really appre...

Re: recovering unsaved files
This took me a minute to dig out.
Audacity saves many small AU files in a temporary directory during capture. The location of this directory (folder) is explained in Audacity > Preferences > Directories. In Windows, it's probably Audacity > Edit > Preferences....

Re: Panning question
You can fake that with the Fade tools. Bust your stereo track into two mono tracks with the menus under the black down arrow to the left. Select the first half of the top track and apply the Fade In effect. Select the second half of the bottom track and apply the Fade Out effect. When you play both ...

Re: REDUCING MP3 FILE SIZES
<<<would a file size of about 5 or 10 MB be adequate?>>> "Please tell me the best settings....." The question that has no answer. All modern compressors, video and audio, know about content. If your content is really simple and plain and mono, then the file sizes can be really small and so...

Re: REDUCING MP3 FILE SIZES
There are a number of tricks to doing this, but one big one is peeling off stereo. I routinely pull down a stereo NPR show and push it into one channel mono and then compress it for my iPod. It works very well, and the file sizes can be really tiny. I really don't care that Scott Simon isn't in my l...

Re: vst-bridge crash
You don't necessarily need to reinstall Audacity. Just dump the preference file. Close Audacity and drop this file into the Trash. SystemDrive/Users/koz/Library/Preferences/audacity Preferences When you re-open Audacity, it will be at first birthday (and will make a new file). Do you remember all th...
