Re: Recording with out the built in mic.
Macs will not let you play and record at the same time like Windows will--or at least not easily. The software packages in that link will let you capture anything that goes through the Mac. WireTap will let you do it on a schedule while you're not there. That's a minor annoyance, but we don't get th...

Re: REDUCING MP3 FILE SIZES
This is a slightly changed version of instructions by Julian Yap. http://www.julianyap.com/wiki/Convert_Stereo_to_Mono_with_Audacity --From Stereo Show to Mono MP3-- Black Down Arrow (on the left) > Split Stereo Track Black Down Arrow > Mono (each track) +/- slider > -6dB (each track) Project > Quic...

Re: REDUCING MP3 FILE SIZES
None of those attempts actually changed the show. If you had exported the show as a WAV file and inspected it, it would be exactly the same down to the sample rate and bit size. Audacity is a little wacky that way. If nobody else drops in, you need to wait until I have a little more time to deal wit...

<<<mic (SHURE) dynamic not compression>>> You got really close to giving us the number of the microphone. SM-58? That's a three-prong microphone and most sound cards are two conductor inputs, or worse, have battery on one of three connections. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audioconnectors/audioconnector...

You can get Audacity to play a track automatically by pressing "L" instead of the normal play button. You can go on vacation and it will still be looping when you get back.

Re: CD will not play in my car radio
We managed to dance around hard numbers. How old is the car radio? Mine is a '92 and it will play home-burned music CDs from a number of different burners Windows or Mac. Some of the players a few years older than that wouldn't Get somebody else to burn a music CD on something else and see if that w...

Re: Project Rate and Bitrate Resetting
I can't find the official instructions, so I'll give it a shot from memory. If you open audio tracks into Audacity, the first one will determine the specifications of all the others. If you have to, create a one second long track at the numbers you want. Anything. Tone, Silence, singing into the mic...

Re: Recording problem
"What You Hear" or "Mix Out" (different versions) scoop up everything your machine is playing into the speakers and redirects it into Audacity. If you happen to have a microphone open in the Windows Record Panels, then you have a microphone and a speaker open at the same time. Fe...

Re: More LameLIB Troubles...
All back. I didn't reinstall Audacity, but I am running 1.2.5 on my Intel machine. I downloaded the lame library under Safari and it produced a nice folder on my desktop. Drill down to the libmp3lame.dylib file and move it to /Applications/Audacity. Launch Audacity and point it at the new file and i...

Re: More LameLIB Troubles...
OK, so more digging. You can still get 1.2.5 and it's the version for OS-X Intel--all varieties.

Is that what you have?
The web site just went down. I've been having that on and off recently. Technology is our friend.
