Re: Stereo recording disappeared
Did you do a Deep Shutdown after your update? Shift + Shutdown? Not regular Shutdown and not Restart. Playback device set to "2-USB Audio CODEC" sends the output back to the mixer which is monitored (in stereo) at one of the mixer channels. There's also one other oddity. I don't see any st...

Re: Hiding and recovering secret audio?
The Vocoder effect modulates a voice on the Left stereo track onto a carrier on the Right stereo track. I produced a 5000Hz (AM Voice) track and smashed it onto a 20,000 constant tone carrier. Screen Shot 2020-02-23 at 18.29.28.png This is the new work. Screen Shot 2020-02-23 at 18.19.22.png If you ...

Re: Hiding and recovering secret audio?
Missed one. The carrier for this magic am radio channel is 25,000Hz. Way above hearing. The voice goes 5,000Hz up and 5,000Hz down.
There ought to be a way to force one of the regular Audacity tools to make AM.
Hmmmmm..

Re: Hiding and recovering secret audio?
I think FM stereo is modulated in a subaudible way. Super audible. It goes up. Regular audible sound stops (in FM) at about 15,000Hz. But wait, there's more. There is a tiny pilot tone at 19,000Hz which is precisely half of the stereo separation information up at 38,000Hz. If your station is cursed...

Re: RMS Normalizer adds serious noise after adding to file
There's quite a few puzzled-puppy looks about this. You can record your voice work in anything you want, but why FCP? Do you already have a studio set up for FCP? I've been known to do that. When I import an .mp3 file into Audacity the file sounds perfect. Every time you go through MP3, it adds some...

Re: One thing fixed, another is not
Think about submitting here on the forum? We can get back to you a lot faster than 10 business days. It is concerning that your saving and exporting seems to be greatly affect the volume and characteristics. That's most unusual. Conversion to MP3 can have errors, but nothing like what you have. To g...

Re: Stereo recording disappeared
channels panned completely to one side show up equally on both meters (L/R), and the recorded output is clearly mono. That's almost a clue. If you take one instrument or sound channel and pan it all the way left to all the way right, the Audacity recording signal more or less doesn't change right? ...

Re: One thing fixed, another is not
but my volume is super loud. Just by listening? Doesn't count. Does the MP3 still pass ACX-Check? That's what ACX is going to be evaluating. And yes, do everything in WAV or Projects and only produce the MP3 as the very last step before shipping it off to ACX. Have you submitted a test yet? ACX wil...

Re: Laptop fan and plug ins
All that and do not interfere with the laptop cooling itself. This is a Zoom H1n. I produced a voice track which passes audiobook technical specifications—including noise—pretty much as you see it here. Just add quiet, echo-free room. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ZoomH1nTechnicalSetup.jpg...

Re: Stereo recording disappeared
I have another possibility. Since this all happened at the Windows Update, what's the possibility you're really recording the room with your laptop built-in microphone instead of the mixer? That will give you a mono signal no matter what your settings say. My laptop microphone will record in either ...
