Re: Export to wav
Premiere? Ulead? So you did the capture in 48,000 instead of 44,100, right, because that's the video standard? I've done that. However, I know that there is an upper limit to the size that a WAV file can be. It's 4G due to the way they constructed the filename and address space. Try exporting half t...

Re: Sound Input Error
Yes, tape machines--almost all of them that I know of-- deliver flat, line level, ready to use sound. Turntables don't. <<<line input jack method I just described sufficient enough to produce CD quality sound? >>> Better. I captured all the vocals for a theatrical short using nothing more than a mic...

Re: It worked, finally.....but
<<<I wouldn't buy an electronic turd from that mall hell of a store. >>> Don't. The one in my neighborhood keeps all the little parts and fuses and screws up to date and it's pleasure to shop there. You're mileage may vary. There is actually a slightly closer one in a shopping center that I wouldn't...

Re: Are plug-ins only available post recording?
<<<I figured a little usb/firewire mic pre interface >>> Judging by all the USB and data problems posted here, that wouldn't be my first choice. Analog mixer with headphone connections and plug it into the MacBook Line-In. Keep that in your back pocket for when you post back here that your USB MicPr...

Re: How to cut a certain part out of a song only
Precision editing is not the best in Audacity, so I'd do it backwards. Make sure you have a protection copy of the whole performance because you're going to mess up the one on the timeline pretty bad. Basically, delete everything before and after your clip and Export As WAV... . Select a place just ...

Re: Mic separation after stereo split
<<<non-powered mixer>>> Just to be clear. The best external electronics plugs into the wall; next best is internal batteries. Last choice should be powered by the USB or FireWire connections. That way lies madness. "How come I get a clicking buzz every time my hard drive spins up...?" Koz

Re: Mono to Stereo Question
Sorry. Missed a step. After you create your new "stereo" song, you need to Export As Wav... and use that for your mix.

Re: Mono to Stereo Question
Open up the mono track in Audacity (by itself), Select All, and Copy. Open up a fresh Audacity in Stereo at the settings for your show (Audacity Preferences). Paste the music. Deselect the track and paste again. You should have two mono tracks, one above the other. Click the top track black down arr...
