Re: clearing up audio

There are only two ways to "remove" audio using the idea of manipulating differences between tracks. The first is convert the performance to mono. If the sound was out of phase between left and right, it will vanish. The other way is to use the Vocal Removal Tool. http://audacityteam.org/d...

Re: USE OF LAME TO EXPORT AS MP3

It's mind-bendingly common for this to happen when your Audacity version and the lame version don't match. Either one (or both) could be wrong, Get the Properties, INFO, or About on everything and make sure you have the right software combination.

Re: Is it possible to create a music keyboard?

Audacity is a relatively simple sound editor, not even as grand as a Digital Audio Workstation, although the latest version may get close. I use it for spoken word recordings. Since you're on a PC, you may be on the wrong platform. GarageBand is included in the Mac and I think it will do all those t...

Re: Change my voice on the fly.

Audacity doesn't do anything in real time. If you need it done as a post production effect three days later, then the the Audacity pitch changer is for you.

Google is good.

Re: Losing our audio with windows media player

There's no shortage of fun and games with USB sound devices. Let's make sure you performed Export As WAV... after you produced your final show and before you tried to send the performance off to Windows Media. If you did it any other way, the results could be instable. Saving as a Project won't do i...

Re: Compress, normalize, amplify -- differences ?

I am reminded there is a way to make this process very slightly less painful (but still manual) and that's the Envelope tool.

I can't find the wiki for it, but just under half-way down this page is a description of it:

Re: iPod settings

<<<If that's really the case then youv'e given me some work to do .......>>> Absolutely. You should be trying it yourself. Pick a musical segment that you know and love and try it encoded at a bunch of different bitrates. Play the trials back to back with the original WAV in a quiet room and take no...

Screen graphics are handled completely separately from the sound. If y...
