Re: Can't run Audicity 1.2.5 and 1.3.3-beta
First, you can stop uploading the dump files. I don't know more than three people in this time zone that can read them and they say things we already know. The computer and all the resident applications and environment tasks halted unexpectedly--whether they were broken or not. We figured that out. ...

Re: trying to record from keyboard
<<<how much does that complicate things?>>> It makes things pretty simple. I don't think you can do it. At all. Macs and Deskside PCs have a Line-In connection. That connection is more or less directly compatible with the audio from the headphone jack on your keyboard. One trip to Radio Shack to get...

Re: Changing Bass
<<<Actually, I'm just recording audio from YouTube >>> We need lots more English words. How are you recording from YouTube? Mix-Out from the sound panel, cable between Line-In and Line-Out ? Total Recorder or other capture software? We're not looking over your shoulder and unlike the Mac forum, the ...

Re: It worked, finally.....but
I suspected as much. All I was going to do was loosen one of the case screws and slide the little forked terminal under it. This looks like a better deal, tho. No screwdrivers. I did read a web page that did an analysis of a bunch of these amplifiers. The R/S unit was among the top performers as far...

Re: Lotsa noise, unpredictable spot, USB turntable
Somebody with an ION turntable (or any other applicable turntable) needs to tell me two things: What are the words around the little switch on the bottom of the turntable (Line/Cartridge? Line/RIAA? Photo/Line?) and is there an audio cable permanently connected to the turntable and are the RCA conne...

When it's not midnight (Pacific) I'll post some tricks to do this live capture session. They're not cheap.

Re: Changing Bass
Let me predict the past. You walked into your favorite club and tried to record a performance. That's really hard to do. If it didn't overload your recording device, you may be able to get away with the Equalizer tool. Like this... http://kozco.com/audacity/voice.jpg ...except instead of putting a d...

Re: Problems recording
<<<So I think it's a problem with Vista?>>> If by "Problem" you mean that it's much harder to rip off music than it was before, that's probably true. There's just the remotest possibility that it was designed that way. Did you crank through that web page? There are some specific notes for ...

Re: That first file is a doosy!
I've never known the markers to move after you placed them somewhere. They can seem to move when you do editing because the markers are linked to absolute time, not the songs. So if you lift one song out of the middle of a imeline, all the markers from that point downstream will point to the wrong s...

Re: It worked, finally.....but
<<<What should I connect it to?>>> I have two new preamps coming from Radio Shack. They have a feature where they will deliver to a neighborhood Radio Shack at no cost. Works for me. I'm planning on putting together a whole system and measuring the result. I won't know where to put that ground wire ...
