Re: help! input level meter not moving!

I really like the two-tone blue colors we're using for the forum dialogs. Whose idea was that?

Auto Logout Timer?

Not all of my answers fit in the alloted time before auto disconnect. It just did it to me again. I was explaining something when the forum quietly logged me out. Of course, I didn't know that until I tried to post. The screen clears (efficiently flushing all my work) and tells me to log in to post ...

<<<but gotta stick with what works!>>> Since you're on a Mac, you could be a candidate for The Analog Method . http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2259&p=8840#p8840 <<<Old transistor pre-amps can be excellent>>> My Hafler preamp is discrete and has distortion figures down in t...

Re: How do you record from Audacity to a CD?

Audacity doesn't burn anything. It just creates the sound files. If you can't get the Multiple Export and label tags thing to work, you can also do it by selecting one song on the timeline and File > Export Selection As.... That will give you one file. Repeat for each song.

Re: recording with audacity

<<<When I press record there is no sound coming from my turntable.>>>

The new USB turntable you got for Christmas? No shortage of problems with those. Which Turntable? ION? Which Windows?

Excellent. That changes the Radio Shack shopping list slightly. Formula for Analog recording from the ION Turntable You need this (or non Radio Shack equivalent): Stereo RCA to 1/8" (3.5mm) audio cable. Part # 42-2550 US$7 http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102974&cp=&am...

Re: Importing AIFF to iTunes?

<<<So, WAV files will work on Macs? >>> Macs will accept anything, so WAV was a good default for a fresh Audacity. Windows will not accept AIFF however. The two audio formats are really close cousins to each other and you can go back and forth with no trouble or damage. iTunes will accept almost any...

Re: Can't run Audicity 1.2.5 and 1.3.3-beta

Actually, I'm tri-lingual. I use audacity on all three computer platforms. I like the Mac one because it's so easy to use--and fix. I don't have to think about it a lot. I help out over in Windows where I can. My machines use Windows 2000 which is already two or three generations away from the curre...

Re: Linearity of audactiy's amplitude?

...and you can see all of that happening by converting your timeline to dB. It's the little black down arrow to the left of the timeline. Select Waveform (dB) . Grab the bottom of your timeline and pull down as far as you can. The numbers up the left side of the timeline will get more and more accur...
