Re: Create an 80 db tone?

You have two things going against you. The timeline only gives you waveforms down just so far and the generator level tools are terrible. So. Generate the tone to "1" (0 dBFS) and then use Effect > Amplify to drop it to whatever you want. You may need to do it more than once (two -40s, fou...

Re: Auto Logout Timer?

I do that. In Mac land, it's Select All, Apple-C. The only time I don't do that is when I'm so engrossed in a long complicated answer that I forget. Three guesses when it times out? This is actually a Design/Engineering problem frequently encountered by nearsighted programmers. The persons most like...

Re: Center Pan Remover not working

On a wild, loosely structured guess, I'd say you either tried to VocalRemoval a mono cut, or a cut in two-track mono. Both of those cut types will give you zero audio when you apply the filter. I wouldn't be shocked to learn that was one of the conditions that returns an error. Since the performance...

Re: Audacity/Audio MIDI problem

You may need to stay in the 20th century to get this to work. Does your turntable have the two analog RCA cables as well as the USB? If so, I would recommend transferring all the work analog. Once you have troubles with USB software, you could be there a very long time struggling--and even if you su...

Re: Downloading LAME plugin

<<<I'm sure Koz will give you a full answer>>> No. We're goin' with yours. Oddly enough, we had a poster who changed preferences to AIFF and had trouble getting into iTunes that way. He followed my instructions to put Audacity back to Windows WAV PCM export and it worked perfectly. No, I don't under...

Re: Export Multiple Error Message

<<<"unable to open target file for writing">>> You would think that means, "I can't make the MP3 files," but what that really means is, "I can't update the System or Log file as to what I'm doing." Did you do an OS update in between the two events? When was the last tim...

<<<My son (a programmer) says it is the USB CODEC itself that is the biggest part of the trouble. He reckons it needs to be rewritten.>>>

...he said on the all volunteer, free software forum. So he's volunteering, then?

<<<Renos.y is the name of the trojan >>> Borrow a computer so you can go online and Google your brains out. Find out everything there is to know about that virus, sorry trojan. Re: Leopard, imic, audacity

Yes, well stay away from MP3s for a while. They have their own problems. I would be changing the Export settings back to Microsoft WAV in: Audacity > Preferences > File Formats > WAV (Microsoft 16 bit PCM). You might need to restart Audacity after changing it, although I'd save the show as a project...

Oh, wait. That's this thread. See what happens when everybody piles onto one thread?

I can't handle it. I'm going to bed.
