Re: mp3 to aup
You understand the quality of anything you do from here on will be that of the MP3. It won't magically restore the high quality of the original capture sound files. Audio (and video) compression, except in some very narrow circumstances, is permanently destructive. So, yes, open your MP3 and it will...

Re: Audacity/Audio MIDI problem
Ideally, you'd turn up a stereo audio cable, female RCA to male 3.5mm. That will connect without the coupler/barrels. The cable with the male RCAs is more common.

Re: Importing AIFF to iTunes?
Do you have a SuperDrive? Can you burn DVDs if you had to? Anyway, we're going to do a CD burner test. Close everything down to a clean desktop. Create a new folder on your desktop (Desktop > File > New Folder.) Call it, I don't know, test1. Copy Stuff into this folder. Any files you can think of to...

<<<If anyone has found a simple suitable replacement to convert lp's to mp3's tell us so we can get on with life's changes>>>
An audio cable and two small barrels. Can't get much simpler.

Re: It worked, finally.....but
<<<So what you are saying is, Audacity requires much more forum searching to find how to get it to work?>>> Not normally. Only if you hit one of the snags. You need to be careful not to extrapolate massive failure from the few people that post here. There are thousands of Audacity installs around th...

Re: Corrupt I/O file (was Sudden Loss of Sound)
<<<The beta program found two file corruptions in the old program files >>> That's a little surprising because the Stable and Beta versions of Audacity are supposed to be able to exist on one computer and not bump into each other. Of course, that's given that both of them installed themselves proper...

Re: Recording Phone calls
<<<I press record on my tape recorder and it begins recording whatever is happening on the line that I've used to dial out.>>> That's true up to a point. The audio (and signaling and DSL and battery and ringing current) are available on any standard phone line--in both directions. However, anybody t...

Re: Newbie BASIC recording
This maybe more entertaining that you think. Is the original in stereo? The technique changes a little depending on the original work. Also, before we go off in all directions, have you tried to open one of your MP3s in Audacity? It's not unusual for people to get a nasty shock that their MP3 select...
