Re: freeing up disk space

Unlike the Windows people, Mac OS-X is pretty good about self-adjusting and maintenance. You don't have to "defrag" your hard drive to keep it efficient. I would download and run Mac Janitor. There are ways to do those jobs manually such as from the command line Mac OS Terminal, but this i...

Re: How to install Audacity on a Mac - Perfectly?

<<<I am simply recording live mixes from a DJ mixer, into an M-Audio FastTrack Pro, using Audacity.>>> There's nothing "simply" about it and you left out a word. "USB." USB was never intended to handle streaming audio (or video) and it can create problems and instability when you...

Or it's back to Windows, although the latest Vista has taken something of a hard line toward recording "What You Hear" or "Mix Out." Those options are missing.

One more. Sometimes, Audacity will need you to restart before changes take affect. Restart after serious changes anyway.

Re: split and insert?

<<<1. I have a large wav file (2 gb), can audacity split it into several small wave files ?>>> If the file will open in Audacity, then you can use Audacity to split it up. This can actually be semi-automated: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Splitting_recordings_into_separate_tracks <<<a...

Re: Recording then saving in file.

You cannot save a file in Audacity. If you are happy with the performance, then File > Export As WAV... > and type in a name for your file. That file you can email any time you wish. If space is a problem or the speed of the internet connection is slow, then you can Export As MP3... and produce a mu...

Re: How to install Audacity on a Mac - Perfectly?

I know it gave you a nice spring housecleaning feeling, but neither OS-X nor Audacity is that delicate. You can reset Audacity to Factory Fresh by drilling down to User(your name) > Library > Preferences and delete the audacity Preferences file. Restart the Mac and everything is all new. You'll find...

Re: Newbie BASIC recording

Oops. Sorry. This is the Windows forum. No iTunes. If you did have iTunes, that's how it would work, but use the CD Authoring/Burning Tool of your choice.
