Just a note: Never abbreviate and never assume the answer service knows everything about your system or software--especially if you're using something odd. I work with all three platforms on multiple forums and the only reason I know what a "PB" is is that I happen to own one.

Re: recording a DJ mix through SERATO ???!
<<<I get either a weak signal with lots of background noises or too much vol and clipping.>>> Right-Brain, First Impression: The low level thing is you connecting to the PowerBook's built-in microphone. I can't tell you how many people do that by accident and make it through a whole recording only t...
Re: cd burn
<<<am i missing something?>>> Maybe not. Why do you think your disk burner works? Were you able to burn a music CD last week from any kind of music from anywhere? Do you have burning software other than Windows Media? I don't think it's a music or Digital Rights problem. I think Windows Media can't ...

Re: How to install Audacity on a Mac - Perfectly?
<<<I wanted to do high quality .wav file and than compress it to mp3 later>>> Excellent. Most people think they need to compress while they do production or some other technique. Compressors such as MP3 work the very best then they are presented with the highest quality work. If you do it any other ...

Re: changing name of file after recording
It depends on what you changed. If you just renamed the AUP file, can't you just rename it back? You do have to put it back accurately, tho. If you open up an AUP file in NotePad/TextEdit, you will find it's a vaguely English list of instructions. It's certainly not a sound file. If you start seeing...

Re: user name not hidden
I think everybody has to have a user name. What hides is whether or not you're alive and on the forum. I don't care, but some people like to invisibly lurk.

Re: Weird playback of WAV files
You can get that in Windows by having the wrong things opened up in the Sound Panels. Open up the Windows sound control panels and make sure everything is turned off except, I'm guessing now, WAV playback or something like that. If you have multiple things on or turned up, that's asking for trouble....

Re: Project file won't open data files
You only get the .bak file when you save a project more than once. Maybe that's the problem. You thought you saved the project, but that's the instant that the phone rang....

<<<I can open the individual "bits" of the interview from the data folder>>> I bet [holding fingers to forehead] that you moved either the _DATA file, the AUP file, or both and they can't find each other any more. Did I hit it? The AUP file (which will open up in NotePad and you can read i...

Re: recording internet radio on MacMini
<<<I am sure it is a simple oversight.>>> So am I. What is it? I can think of a large number of reasons that would not work. There are three different software packages struggling for mastery of the sound services. OS-X, SoundFlower, and Audacity, and they all have different agendas. I wouldn't be s...
