Back at the top of this thread, we talked about not being able to do that. There are tools to cancel out the voice and leave most of the other instruments, but I don't know of any way to do the reverse.

Re: Can't use "/" in track names when exporting multiple
Slash marks cause problems in all three computer platforms, and yes, the system sees them as directory/folder separators. You should probably stay away from most punctuation marks in filenames as a general practice. There is an unfortunate problem of becoming accustomed to your particular system and...

Re: How to install Audacity on a Mac - Perfectly?
Close but no winner. I put a very old mac on-line as a file sharing server, but it turns out it has a very slow network card in it. So while you can transfer a sound file, it will probably take two weeks to do it. Not working... So we'll see how far we get with your description of the recording sess...

Re: no option to choose usb audio codec
<<<it records everything - ambient noise, etc. like recording a record from a handheld mic...>>> That's because it is recording from a hand-held mic--the one inside your PowerBook. DId you get this turntable because someone thought about you over Christmas, or someone else got it over Christmas and ...

<<<showing up in Yellow, why did I get distortion?>>> This is where you expect me to cloud up and rain all over your USB service isn't it? Nope. You were recording a live music performance, right? That's critical. Describe the pathway. Microphones, amplfiers, cables. Can you post a piece of that, sa...

Re: Progressive Latency?
<<<I realize this is somewhat lame, but would it be causing the progressive latency?>>> It's possible. Some cheap sound cards digitize sound with different electronics than they play back. If, for example, you think you recorded a show at 44100/16 bit and the sound card was really running at 44005, ...

Re: problem importing WAV file
<<<It resulted in a audacity project file>>> I'm trying to make up my mind whether you picked a bad couple of words or not. You can't exactly play an Audacity Project file. I'm assuming you tried to play a foreign sound file that you thought was a WAV file and it played funny. Koz

<<<Am I missing something really basic?>>>
You may be missing a wave file. If Audacity doesn't know what the file type is (and it's compressed) it plays very fast. If you Click, Get Into or Right Click, Properties, what does it say? I'm betting it's not a Windows Wave File.

I've never used the "Mix Out" option. I've had a license for Total Recorder forever. I can set up and record internet shows even if I'm not home. I think I went crazy and got the Pro edition. $35 last I checked.

Re: software requirement document
It's probably good for you to know that Audacity 1.4.x is just this close to being released as the current stable release. 1.2.x will fade into history.
