Re: Can no longer export to MP3

<<<More explanation:>>> That's.......not clear. We rarely do anything at 44.1 because we're basically a video shop. How do the Audacity Project Preference rates relate to the rates as changed on the timeline and further relate to the MP3 encode rates? If we pick 48/16, does that mean certain MP3 exp...

Re: Can no longer export to MP3

Sudden, unexplained Windows insanity can be caused by Windows trying to update itself in the background. Do you have that option enabled? I personally make Windows warn me and then I'll do the update manually. I don't like surprises. The other obvious problem could be a virus or other malware. When ...

Re: Recording what's going through sound card

I"ve never been able to do that with my PowerBook or the iBook before that and I can't seem to find what you're referring to. Can you post a direction, quote, or URL?

Re: HELP!! Recovery? (1200 fragments...)

<<<The first time I used it seriously to record a show, it crashed on me (not once, but TWICE.).>>> I'm hearing this is the first time you tried to go over five minutes? I've recorded an hour or so of live theatrical performance with my not-exciting PowerBook, so I know it can be done. We should fin...

Re: crashed during noise removal

That's cutting it close. You're supposed to say, "A small, fast 8G drive for the operating system and programs and then two 120G data drives for the music and shows. The operating system has to store stuff in there dynamically, too, assuming there's only one drive. When was the last time you de...

Re: Recording from a midi keyboard live to Audacity

<<<If you have any thoughts email might be better>>> Maybe better for you, but not for us. The object of the forum is to help as many people as possible. I'm trying to dig through this. The Protius VX is a software package for your PC, right? It takes the USB Audio signal from the MIDI keyboard? or ...

Re: Quality after converting from Vinyl

Some different thoughts on that. <<<The intermediate recording step only makes more work and will almost certainly introduce additional unwanted noise into the signal.>>> Our DVD recorders use standard 48000 PCM for the audio tracks, so we would have to downgrade the signal to produce a 44100 Audio ...

Re: Recording problems - First time user

Another point or two. My music entertainment system is a large, non-integrated audio amplifier pushing very good quality speakers with bass cabinet connected to......a Mac mini. That and a large LCD panel are my DVD Player, HiDef DVR and off-air TV receiver, too. You know when they say to "Join...

Re: IS IT POSSIBLE TO IMPORT SOUND FROM A CD ?

Lot to be said about the analog method, but it tends to fall apart if you have a portable PC. Deskside PCs and Macs both have "Line-In" and you can use this jumper cable trick. Laptop PCs don't. If you're on a PC and not Vista, Total Recorder will allow you to rip CDs or pretty much anythi...
