The upgrade to Vista and Leopard caused a number of problems. Audacity 1.4.x is really close to release.

Re: picking up radio signals
We can actually try to cure this--or change it. Can you find a USB cable with a lump in it? Like it swallowed a small egg? That lump is a radio energy suppressor and that might help. Try to float your system. Drop by the hardware store and pick up a couple of ground lifters. You plug your system int...

<<<Why is this>>>
That one is probably a USB problem. What happens if you force both to the same sample rate and bit depth?
You are recording live performances, right?

Re: HELP!! Recovery? (1200 fragments...)
You might try and find someone that has a much larger audio package. My thousand-year old Cool Edit has a function called "Open Append..." and if you believe the instructions, will open a series of numbered sound files on one timeline, but I can't get it to open Audacity files.

Something like half the postings on the forum are from people who can't get that to work.
Buy the CDs.

Re: picking up radio signals
Where in the world are you and can you drive or walk around your neighborhood and see tall broadcasting towers? You have to be within a half-mile or so to get this effect unless you happen to live in Lodi, New Jersey. There, you have to be two or three miles away to avoid listening to WABC on your e...

Re: Alter effects during playback?
Before you blow the Big Bucks, I would wait until Audacity 1.4.x comes out. It's basically 1.3.x in a stable package, which in itself, has much improved tools over 1.2.x. But yes, there are things that I can do in my Cool Edit and Adobe Audition that I can't do in Audacity. Timed recording when I'm ...

Re: Recording Time
When you tell Audacity where to put its temporary work and scratch files, it tries to make an educated guess of record time available based on your settings. Show time is limited only by your hard drive space and operating system. We have an Audacity license on a Linux machine which, when we set it ...

Re: Can Audacity be used with Windows 98???
Does the turntable show up as a valid device in Windows Device Manager when it's all plugged together? People seem to have terrible success with those USB turntables. Your 50% success rate seems to be about right. If there seems to be nothing wrong with the setups but it still doesn't work, remember...
