Unless you can point me to more information, FL Studio is not rated for Vista, so it wouldn't surprise me that it's causing troubles.

Re: Intermittant unexpected loud noise
There's no way you could post a sample, is there? What happens if you set up for a recording, press Record, and then don't press play on the tape machine? Next test is don't plug anything into the back of the computer and record a bit keeping all other settings the same. Is the cassette machine batt...

Re: Part of track is silent
Original capture files are part of a project. More than one person turned their project into garbage by "cleaning up."

Re: Error while opening sound device.
Sudden unexplained Windows insanity can be caused by viruses. Did you get the Valentine's Day virus that went around? The warning for that one came down through our Systems Department. It was a pretty stiff problem. Would this be a good time to upgrade your virus program signatures and do a manual s...

Re: Exporting Multiple Files
You may be paying attention to the wrong part of the error message. Carefully save and close everything. Open up a fresh Audacity, set the preferences for 48000, 16 bit (video standard) and restart. Download the Piano Trill from here: http://www.kozco.com/tech/soundtests.html Open this clip, set two...

Re: LAME MP3 NOT WORKING ON MY MAC HELP!
There's some disagreement on the file name.
libmp3lame-osx-universal-3.97.zip
That's how it appears on the web site, but I swear I used the other one and it worked (the extra "8" is an error).
But you get the idea.

Re: audacity adding two seconds?
<<< audacity is adding two seconds of silence after i export the snipped track to a .wav file.>>> And you know this because you opened up the exported WAV file in QuickTime and measured it there, or you re-opened it in Audacity again? It's amazingly suspicious that the error is two seconds. That's e...

Re: Poor audio quality recording whatuhear
"What You Hear" is a little magic. A PC will cheerfully send you What You Hear in addition to the original sound channel, and other channels giving you all sorts of echoes, phasing, and flanging problems.
And yes, you do have to give us a hint.

Re: How toEqual Voice Amplitude
You can also use the "Normalize" effect on each track individually. Select one performance, normalize, select the second performance, normalize, etc. This tool will push up or down as needed. This process isn't perfect--you can't do it once to the whole show--but if you have large variatio...
