Re: Blue Snowball Mic + Gateway Profile 4 for voice over?
<<<Can I get a professional quality for a voice over for a DVD ? >>> Voiceover work usually has a good deal less to do with the part number of the microphone wire and the color of the preamplifier than it does recording in an echo-free, quiet room with a blast filter in front of the mic. http://www....

Re: how record off other programs using audacity.
<<<record streaming audio from say the internet >>> Yes, but it has nothing to do with Audacity. I use two programs that capture the machine sound output without messing with Control Panels, feedback loops, and oddball sound pathways. WireTap for the Mac and Total Recorder for the PC. You can use bo...

Re: Muddy Sound Quality from Ripped Cassettes
You're trying to transfer the copies or the originals? Is this the exact same deck that you can play the tapes with the sound system and it sounds OK? Cassette machines can have all sorts of problems--especially when they get old. The rubber parts inside deteriorate and can affect the tension, azimu...

Re: Automatically stop recording?
<<<it was taking about 5 minutes for each song label to "take" >>> You understand there is a Hot Key you can use to set the labels? It's Apple-B on a Mac. You have so totally the symptoms of a slow or overloaded computer. If production of any sort in Audacity starts taking minutes and minu...

Re: can't hear any sound in project
When you start a project, Audacity remembers the locations, folders, names, and directory structure of your whole show. You can't move things around, clean up, neaten up, or organize anything once that happens. I bet if you un-organize your sound files, your project comes back to life. You can open ...

Re: What is an FFT filter?
Fast Fourier Transform. Note that the FFT filter is a cousin to Equalization. Both have a "rubber band" line that you can drag around to get different effects. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/voiceEq.jpg Pull the work window bigger and bigger to get more and more accuracy. I'm not totally s...

Re: Getting my track back!
You can MUTE tracks to make them "go away" without actually deleting them from the Project.

Re: can't hear any sound in project
Audacity doesn't actually "Import" anything when you Save A Project. It just creates an AUP supervisory file that "points" to the original sound files. If you deleted or moved the original sound files, then there is no project. The blue wiggly line waveforms on the timeline are c...

Re: Exporting as MP3 creates reverb/echo in recording
There is one other possibility. Do you know what MP3s sound like if you encode them too small? You didn't use the magic word "bubbly," but that's what that sounds like. Check the encoding value in Audacity > Preferences > File Formats and make sure the encode rate is 48 or above. Koz

Re: Getting my track back!
You can Edit > Undo to bring your "X" track back...as long as you don't close Audacity. Once you do, the project will reopen without the deleted tracks and Undo will be gray. I tried a simple project with and without one channel in "X" and the AUP supervisory file simply loses tr...
