Re: No display in Audio Track ?

<<<but no visible waveform>>>

Are you looking in the wrong place? If you stop a recording and start up again, Audacity creates tracks 3 and 4 underneath 1 and 2. It doesn't create an extended 1 and 2. To get an extended track, you have to Record Pause.

Re: De-essing filters

<<<as far as I can tell everything is grounded.>>> Stop doing that. If you're recording on a portable computer, see if the hum doesn't go away if you run batteries and disconnect the wall power. Another possibility is the flip the Mac power supply over in the wall. It will plug in either direction. ...

Re: How do you burn to a cd

In Windows, as a fuzzy generality, you can open the song in Windows Media Player and one of the menus should ask you if you want to burn a CD. There are other CD authoring and burning programs you can buy; Easy CD Creator, Veritas, etc. and if you have one of those, you don't need Windows Media. Som...

Re: Kristal Audio VSTs

I have a helper program in my Audacity plug-ins folder called vst-bridge.so. From fuzzy memory, I think I got it from somewhere on the Audacity web site. You need that to get the VST stuff to work.

Is that enough to go on?

Re: Monophonic Records

Mono vinyl recordings use lateral groove modulation (wiggle side to side) and stereo uses orthagonal modulation upper-left to lower right, and upper-right to lower left. If you play a mono record on a stereo system, you should get two audio channels with the same thing on them--two track mono. So go...

Re: Opening Saved Material gives Error 2

<<<Is there a glitch or a bug in the system? >>> Did you repeatedly Save your work, or Export As... ? "Save" in Audacity does not produce a sound file. It produces a Project which is a cloud of files all managed by the AUP file. Those things inside the _DATA folder aren't sound files, they...

Re: Record Telephone conference call?

Or my favorite trick of recording a speakerphone in a quiet room with a standalone microphone. Juggle the positioning of the microphone and speakerphone volume for good balance. This is virtually the only way to get good voice balance without mechanical surgery, ripping cables apart, or blowing the ...
