Re: De-essing filters
<<<OK. How do you know that one?>>> I got burned. I was recording radio shows off the air and my tuner is connected to a roof antenna. No cable system or community antenna or anything magic. There was always a low buzz running through everything no matter what I did. I grounded, I lifted grounds, I ...

Re: No display in Audio Track ?

You can pull the Audacity window out wider and get better meters. If your show lights bounce in the -36 range, then you won't get a waveform b...

Re: What is an FFT filter?
You can apply all these tools to any audio you select, the entire performance or even just the right or just the left of a small segment if you want. There are people applying effects to each click and pop on a photograph record capture.

Re: How to adjust recording channels
Use the Black Down Arrow on the left of the track to Split Stereo Track. Select the low volume track. Apply Effect > Amplify. From the top track, black down arrow > Make Stereo Track.
Export as usual.

Re: using Audacity to transcribe interviews - help!
You're a snippet of a small portion of a subset of all users. So, nobody is knocking down the door to develop software for you and Audacity isn't likely to do you much good. Audacity doesn't back up 2 seconds as far as I know. No foot pedal. You can insert labels, but I can't find the instructions. ...

Select some audio. Audacity effects only work when there is audio selected to work on.

Re: Getting started
<<<I opened a podcast, drilling down in my iTunes directory.>>> The iTunes folder is a little magic--roughly like trying to manage MP3 files in the presence of Windows Media Player. I would personally have gotten the work out of iTunes at the first opportunity. Open in Audacity (if you can) and Expo...

Re: Vinyl to CD - RIAA equalization
Here it is. It seems to be well made and they post the specifications, so I can check them--which I will. http://shop.vendio.com/alcoed/item/643147479/?s=1204457496 The version that I have features a volume control on the front and comes with good hand-packing--not a blister pack. Here we go. http:/...
