Re: lamelib can't be unstuffed
<<<why does this have to be so hard?>>> You're right. It's a travesty. Get your money back. <<<is there any other way?>>> Certainly. There are any number of for-profit audio programs out there that will be happy to edit and convert your show to MP3 or anything else you want. I think iTunes can be se...

Re: Record audio from internal DVD player?
You gotta dig further into the Windows control panels. Windows traditionally has given you the ability to record "Mix Output" or "What You Hear." In either case, it routes the speaker feed back into Audacity. That process may have been abbreviated in Vista because it can cause tr...

Re: press record: receive Windows Stop Error
Is your hard drive filling up? There should never be less than 10% free space on a video or audio production machine. where does it say it's going to put all its capture clips?

Re: Some trouble
MMF isn't a music format. It's a cousin to MIDI which isn't a music format either. They're both instruction formats and the music actually comes from the chip in the phone. It's possible to force MMF to carry PCM music clips, but that's the exception, not the rule. There are a number of patent and c...

Re: Converting files to MP3 format
Windows Media Player will recognize WAV files which can be exported from Audacity. If you're totally in love with MP3 or you're running out of room on your computer, you can export MP3, too, but you have to download an extra tool.

Re: slow down audacity playback to isolate sound
If you're after scrubbing like in a video editor, Audacity won't do that. The best you can do is blow up the blue timeline waveforms with the magnifer and try to recognize the edit points by the graphic change. Then there's the try it and UNDO until you hit it.

If you've ever tried to run a portable AM or FM radio next to a computer, you have some idea of how electrically vicious it is in there.

Here it is. If you click on one file in the Find results list, it will give you the directory pathway in a little line on the bottom of the window. There is an assumed pathway like there is in most Linux installs based on the drive mount. It says /koz/tests/experiments/doodles/...but what it really ...

Re: Getting started
If you have trouble installing the lame libraries, it could be you have the wrong lame download, or (drum roll) you have the wrong Audacity. The programmers made Audacity so it would run on the wrong operating system. It will seem to be remarkably successful if slightly unstable, but it will fail co...
