Pitch change didn't work? You can apply it more than once. I think you get one octave per application.
There was something magic about that tool and the program duration (speed) tool. They're supposed to not interact, but some versions of Audacity had troubles.

Re: Can you convert a music file to MP3 format?
No. Audacity will not load and play a Windows Media file properly. You should find and download a media conversion program and use that. Once the show is in Windows WAV format, then Audacity will open it, edit it, and export it. Do you have the lame libraries downloaded, uncompressed and running? Au...

Re: Vista compatable
This is the forum to discuss the color of the panels, type of font in the forum messages, and the shape of the smilies. Go back up and find the right version of Audacity (1.2, 1.3) and then the right operating system (Mac, PC...) and post there.
Thanks,

Re: error message
Welcome to a very large and wide-spread club. Audacity has troubles with USB audio services to begin with, and the turntables just make your Mac unstable. By "unstable" I mean magic. "It worked yesterday." "It likes Glenn Miller and hates Harry James." "It waits un...

That's a Twilight Zone moment, isn't it?
Just for fun, download the Left-Right clip from here...

Re: Not...working...
Save the project exactly as it is--without the cut, and then Export as WAV... for a safety copy. This will do two things. If you can't Export As WAV, then you're probably running out of hard drive room. In any event, inspect your drives and make sure you're not 10% or less of free space. And two, af...

Re: leopard and audacity
Both Vista on the PC side and Leopard on the Mac side are responsible for some very interesting effects and anomalies. One of the reasons I 'm not running either one. I believe the Audacity team is addressing this in version 1.4.

Re: How to manipulate exact amplitude values?
We should probably change your timeline from the default into dB, so all the tools match. Black down arrow on the left > Waveform (dB). Stretch your waveform taller to get better accuracy. It's optional to detach the meters, but that can help, too. View > Float Meter Toolbar. You should have somethi...

Re: Muddy Sound Quality from Ripped Cassettes
I think you'd have to be loonie to try complicated audio production on a PC...and now you know why. I do some very simple editing on a Windows 2000 machine with Cool Edit and a few weeks ago, I messed up the sound panel. I could hear it, but I couldn't record it. Sound familiar? It took me an hour o...
