Re: 2ND TEST CLIP FOR AUDACITY
Accuracy in posting is good, too. Siemens makes perfectly good medical X-Ray machines, but Razer Seirēn X is a nice microphone. You should have the cardioid pattern selected (upside down heart shape) and you should have the company snake logo facing away from you. This is the only microphone I've ev...

Re: 2ND TEST CLIP FOR AUDACITY
You can set this yourself. Audacity has tools to help you set voice volume. The first file in this series was TEST CLIP and it has blue waves that look like this. That's after you get through announcing the sample and press stop. Screen Shot 2020-03-02 at 16.26.19.png It's supposed to look more like...

Another possibility. Right+Click or Control+Click on the sound file > Open With > QuickTime Player.
QuickTime Player will play dirt if you want it to. Does it play your work?

Re: recorded interview using speaker phone, now getting flat line on audacity
yes the file is saved and named. but no, i can't currently access it on my phone. I meant saved and named on your phone . All the recorders I used hold the work in the active recorder app until I tell the system if I want to keep it, where to keep it, and what to call it. Which app? Voice Memo? Mus...

Re: recorded interview using speaker phone, now getting flat line on audacity
Can you play the file on the phone? Did you remember to save the performance and name it after you recorded it?
I, of course, have never made that mistake (ahem, harumph).

I have the fabric filter that came with the mic. Cool. Do you have the boom microphone stand? https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/CloroxMicStand-500w.jpg https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MBP_StarbucksStudioShoot-500w.jpg If you're recording with the microphone on your table or desk, that...

Re: Eliminating plosive
There are two types of pop filter. The one shown above is the fabric one with stiff but stretchy nylon over it. That one works by refusing to stretch past a certain point P-Popps have long wind excursions. There's a second version with rigid screening and carefully tuned holes. https://www.kozco.com...

Re: Computer keeps crashing after recording starts
it crashes (shuts down) each time I record for only a minor two Which "it"? The computer or Audacity? How did you get Win7 on a new machine? Do you still have your original install disks? If you intend on producing theater work on your machine, it should have its memory maxed out. People ...

You can also be plain too close. If you're using a pop filter, you shouldn't be any closer than about a power fist.

You may be a candidate for Microphone Management. Place the active grill of the microphone even with your noise or higher. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/lin-manuelMicrophone.jpg https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ThankYouForUsingATT.jpg If that's still not enough, try oblique placemen...
