Re: Can't get loud enough? (Recording w/ an envelope/clippin
Voluntary services don't do deadlines well. You can have billions of things that cause that. Battery operated microphones do that when the battery gets soft. If the preamp on your mixer is set too high , it will clip and you can't fix it later. So describe your setup paying attention to part numbers...

Re: How to Use CENTER PAN REMOVER?
Where are you stuck? Did you download and install it OK? You selected your stereo show with a singer in the exact center and applied the filter, right? You're left with a mono show with no singer and anything else in the middle will be gone, too, like frequently drums. If you do any of those things ...

You have no show unless there's a lot more files are on that disk somewhere. He saved the conductor but not the orchestra. An Audacity AUP file is an XML supervisory file that you can open up with WordPad in Windows and read. When you launch that file, it tells Audacity where to find all the rest of...

Re: Audacity stops recording
Sudden Unexplained Windows Insanity can be caused by you running out of hard drive space. Right click on your c: drive for information (properties) and see how full the drive is. No production hard drive should be over 90% full. You could also be running into Windows fragmentation issues. Do you def...

Re: Hellowww out there...
It would totally be good to know if it happened more than once. And if you have the real numbers, that would help, "I set it for 60:00 duration and it went for 123:37." Then try a 30:00 duration show. I need that to answer the question of whether it really stopped at 123:37, or that's just...

<<<turn your computer off for at least a day>>> Or, if you're the adventurous type and don't have a lot of time, do you know how to get into the CMOS Setup Panel? Sometimes it's DEL or F1 while the machine is starting. Usually the first page of the CMOS panel has the readout of the hardware clock--n...

Maybe it's not Audacity or your turntable. Download the "Left-Right" clip from here... http://www.kozco.com/tech/soundtests.html ...and play it. Put your head right between the speakers and play the test at a clear volume. Does the last clip sound hollow and wacky, or the next to the last?...

Re: Sound Card, multiple input, recommendations?
Audio cards with Line-In have two inputs. Left and Right. If you have an external mixer and want to produce from two live microphones, this isn't a terrible way to go. Put one actor on one side and the other on the other. Manage later as you wish in Audacity. I shoot a weekly live meeting like this....

Re: The Make Really A Bad Vocal Recording Good Challenge
Did you play the tapes on a mono machine? If you have million year old stereo tapes, they will wander over mono heads and give you very pronounced hollow muffled effects that change over time, sort of wooshing in and out like a Disneyland ride You also missed typing the magic words, "I posted a...

Re: splitting continuous mixing into tracks
Should you decide to make an actual music CD, you can use those markers with the File > Export Multiple tool and the export will automatically break your performance up into segments according to those markers.
