Re: Tin Sound in an echo chamber

It is terrifically difficult to remove white or pink noise from a human voice without making the performance sound like it's underwater or gargling. This effect is much worse in Audacity 1.2 because 1.2 had terrible effect controls. Much better in 1.3 To give you an idea of the problem, suppose the ...

Re: Can't get loud enough? (Recording w/ an envelope/clippin

I think I know what happened, but I can't reproduce the problem--at least not on the Mac version. If you set up Audacity Preferences for Mono, what's supposed to happen is the program selects the "Left" of a stereo show and records that as a mono track. That happens to be the same physical...

Re: entire edit commands are disabled

Most of the Audacity production tools only work after you select some audio. Either click and drag, or Edit > Select > All.

Re: Blue cat Audio Addin

This message isn't going to Blue Cat because....? I've never seen this software before. It seems like a nice package and it also seems like it would come with a nice instruction book or file or PDF or something. Did you get a good deal? On-line from the web site, or did you find a secondary supplier...

Re: How to copy one music file to beginning of a voice file

When you edit in Audacity, everything has to line up. If your project is set for MP3 and you're editing, say, 3:1 compressed MP3s and then you try to paste an uncompressed WAV clip into the show, it may run at 1/3 speed. It may also do that when you got an uncompressed clip and Audacity can't figure...

Re: Lamebib-carbon not found by computer after download

My machine is running 1.2.4, not 1.2.6. I've been avoiding the upgrade because my machine works as it is. I'd have to tear down the existing install, save all the install images and put it all back together again. Mine is having troubles with USB audio (imagine my surprise) and the upgrade might be ...

Re: Looking for effect artists

This is also why they still kill actors by asking them to provide the voice for animated characters. To do that, the actor has to sit in a dark room for three weeks with nobody else around and speak the dialog into a microphone wind screen and hope to goodness it fits with all the rest of the dialog...

Re: Visualisation

I believe both platforms (Mac/PC) have screen capture programs that can turn anything that appears on the screen into a local video. Sound is relatively easy by manipulating the sound control panel to record Mix Out. On the Mac, it's Snaps Pro. Launch it and tell it where on the screen you want to c...

Re: Audacity stops recording

<<<just music was fine,>>> "Just Music?" From where? Were you performing live music to a microphone? I also can't see any time where you would be looking for a music clip while you're recording something else--unless you're creating a training segment on how to find music clips. I can see ...
