Re: BPM reading of a live recording?

<<<read the bpm of the live audio input>>> You were fine until you got to the word "input." Even output is a problem because you need to select the audio on the timeline and apply the filter. Input is especially a problem because nobody wants the latency that extra processing would cause. ...

Re: When will be an official 1.3.4 beta for Leopard ?

Most of the Audacity team is struggling to bring out 1.4 on all platforms. No more Beta software.

Re: output not supported

It may be that the Mac is trying to play your show back to the turntable through the USB services.

Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Output

Make sure Line Out or Built In Audio is selected.

Re: Which song is supposed to sound better?

Those two are too close together to tell any difference. I think you are a victim of label threshold. At some encode rate, they have to switch between the words high and very high. Right at that threshold, there isn't any difference. You're far better off just using the encode rate numbers and ignor...

Re: removing chirps from guitar recording

Actually, a magnetic pickup translates the side to side motion of the string into electrical energy which is then amplified. Chirps happen when you move your fingers along the string, which either doesn't generate any sideways motion or it's minimal. I don't think I've ever heard anybody chirp an el...

Re: partial exporting

Can you actually play eight and nine on the timeline? Don't just assume you can play them. What happens if you select track eight manually and File > Export Selected As WAV...? I'm assuming you looked at your hard drive and there's enough room? Production hard drives should never be over 90% full. T...

Re: removing chirps from guitar recording

I don't even think there's a way to do it manually one at a time given that the strings are still moving between the notes. Anything you do during that one little chirp is going to sound like little surgical holes in the sound field. Isn't this a little bit like complaining about the breathiness of ...

Re: Importing audio changes to higher HZ

Standard "Red Book" audio CD carries sound in a Microsoft WAV-like format at 44100, 16-bit, stereo. It's straight audio with no compression. If it isn't in that format, it's not a standard CD. I probably wouldn't have presented Windows Media with an MP3 file because MP3s use destructive co...

Re: Only seems to record from mic - help!

Microsoft has been making that harder and harder each new version of Windows. Have you read through this? http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel I use a software package on both the Mac and the PC. The software lets me record anything coming through...
