Re: Automating converting files to mp3
1.2 Audacity has no batch tools. Have you been able to execute this process with one sound file, or are you guessing? <<<I am sort of paranoid about losing the licenses>>> So you're on a service that lets you "borrow" music and then takes it back? You know you have to let them take it back...

Re: Need help with odd raw data please.
I'm going with no. Audacity isn't going to know how to handle data unless it comes in a sound wrapper like WAV--in your case, only WAV. You can't use any of the compressed formats because they all damage data. Audacity will handle data down to DC which is where your data is. "Sound" offici...

Re: Problem downloading LAME
Patience. The question has to ripple around the world at least once. You'll find out how this works when you start to help on the forum yourself. Which unzipper are you using? I've been known to use pkunzip. On Windows, this could be a permissions issue although I can't exactly see how that could be...

Re: Using Audacity to record Game Audio
<<<this seems to have nothing to do with my question.>>> Yes, it does. Both of these programs insert themselves at the end of the computer playback pathway. No matter what the computer is doing or playing, a sample of it is captured by them and recorded. It's "What You Hear" on vitamins. T...

Re: Problems with pitch
Did they start out the same key? You know you can get serious Twilight Zone problems by trying to edit with two audio clips that are similar songs but different audio standards? If Audacity doesn't know how to act, it might also change the speed of the performance. Did the second clip import with th...

Re: File Size Too Big
<<<35 minute recording is already nearly 33 Mbytes....get this down to single digit Mbytes.>>> While that's possible to do, you may not like the results very much. You will probably get serious bubbling in the quality even if you reduce the show to mono and only have one person talking. This is gett...

Re: size limitations
<<<It only opened the first 88 minutes.>>> Would that happen to work out to around 2G? Alternately, how do you know it didn't open up the whole show? There are plenty of people with complaints that they recorded continuously for thirteen weeks but only got the first 90 minutes as a playable file. Koz

Re: How to create stereo sine wave?
I've never figured out how to do this, but I do have an escape. My license for Cool Edit will generate stereo tones. You might consider the 1.3 Audacity. That's the base for the about to be released 1.4. No doubt you noticed that Audacity woke up from the install in mono. The mono default runs throu...
