Re: Waveform Interpretation
<<<Blue>>> It used to be one was peak value and the other was Something Else. Average sound level? RMS values? I gotta look it up. One of the reasons we urge people to immediately convert the timeline to dB rather than percent, is how the ear works. (Black down arrow on the left > Waveform dB.) 0.5 ...

Re: Extracting Vocals Using Instrumental (AGAIN!!!)
<<<This is the first vocal isolation effect that I've seen, so it is of interest just for that>>> Exactly that. It used to be you just couldn't do this. Now it's maybe possible a little bit. Let me count the number of people who bought the Sound Soap noise reduction package and tried to use it based...

Re: Amplified - WAVE file is smaller ?
And just when you get comfortable with the minor variations, technology comes up behind you and smacks you with a fish.
"Well, of course it failed. Didn't you see the file size difference?"

Re: Tried troubleshooting. Any other ideas?
I'm a good deal more forceful about this. [rant] You have not completed a live sound capture session until you have exported a WAV file for editing later. Audacity Projects are misleading and brittle. Effectively, you can't move them anywhere or make changes to the machine on which they live. The fo...

Re: Amplified - WAVE file is smaller ?
<<<The file size dropped by 3KB.>>> After you do this enough, you really do ignore minor file size changes, especially if you routinely bump files back and forth between different operating systems. Push a Windows file to a linux machine and then on to a Mac, the same file will be different sizes at...

Re: Waveform Interpretation
You're not going to see a difference. The loudness and peaks of the show don't change. I write a thing about MP3 a while back.

Re: Noise Removal Assistance
You're clear that you're posting a 1.3 question on the 1.2 forum? One of the reason many of us aren't using 1.3 is because it's unstable.

Re: Volume Gets Lower While Recording
<<<line to mic adapter>>> Yes, that should get rid of the mic channel overloading problem and I have built those myself (they're six ten-cent resistors in a box, so don't pay hundreds of dollars for it), but you need to know that the signal will become noisier than if you had used a Line-In connecti...
