Re: Computer shuts down every half hour in windows 10 but not in DOS ?
I had a machine like that. I damaged one of the connections on the motherboard and the machine was super unstable until I took it apart, found the damage, and corrected it. It's been running perfectly ever since. I ... found a few trojans and stuff. On a new drive? Where did you get Windows 10 from?...

Re: Converting negative dB to positive
But wait! There's more. How are you recording your birdsong? I would use a stand-alone sound recorder, not a voice recorder and not the recorder in the computer. Since you are particularly sensitive to quality of sound, you can set up a sound recorder to not apply effects, corrections, equalization ...

Re: 2.3.3 plug-in references that won't go away.
Correct. They're kept is a special place that survives a program change or upgrade. Normally, this is a good thing. You do an upgrade and just carry on with all your old settings and tools. That's not so good when you want to do a clean start. This is especially problematic if you break something. T...

Re: Converting negative dB to positive
Also as above, it is possible to not use an SPL meter, but you need a Standard Bird. Make a recording of the Standard Bird and then, without changing your recorder at all, measure the Mystery Bird. You can make statements such as: "The Mystery Bird is 12dB louder than our Standard Bird. That's ...

And there's a problem nobody brought up yet. Even if you do wrangle a Sound Pressure Level Meter... https://www.kozco.com/pix/SoundLevelMeter.jpg ...using it can be a pain in the neck. SPL readings come in flavors or weights. "A" Weighing corresponds more or less to the response of the hum...

Re: Transferring Projects between Computer
Isn't that a little extreme? What happened to move the AUP file and _DATA folder to the same place or folder? If that fails, you may have a lot more serious computer problems than a recording won't open.

Re: ACX-Check
Normalise>Equalisation>Compressor>Normalise>Limiter>Compressor>Limiter. Do all those duplications operate with the same settings? For example, do both Compressors operate with the same sliders and checks? I ask that because straight, simple compressor and limiter are downward-only tools. They don't...

Shift+Command+4 and draw a box around some of the damage. Screen Shot 2020-03-03 at 18.30.22.png That should put a picture file in your desktop. Post it here on the forum. Scroll down from a forum text screen > Attachments > Add Files. The odd part of the problem is not that it's happening, it's tha...

Re: ACX-Check
changing to 2.3.3 at this time does not help me. It may not. In My Opinion you should not upgrade until you can point to a specific reason. Equalization has been a thorn. In older versions, Low Rolloff Equalization came with variations, sliders and settings. You had to pay attention. The new rumble...
