Re: Vocals Processing

Can you post fifteen seconds of your stereo mix somewhere? The board will not let you post it here, but there are free services out there.

Stevie's got plenty of good abstract ideas, but in fifteen seconds we can give you pages.

Re: Delete vocal in a normal song!!!??

Vocal Removal or "Center Pan Removal" isn't a simple key click. There is quite a list of restrictions and rules and undesirable outcomes associated with it. As above, the tool only removes sound in the exact center of a stereo show. Drums in the middle? Gone. Any other instruments in cente...

Re: Waveform not symmetrical

When you connect something to Audacity and you configure the system properly, you can click once inside the red record meters and they will wake up and monitor the level without you having to make a recording. Great for troubleshooting and level setting.

Re: iTunes does not read Audacity MP3s

Two iTunes preferences come to mind. There is a setting where iTunes is forced to import (copy) songs to its local library instead of leaving the song where it was, and iTunes goes through the import step when the iTunes internal file format is different from the song. ITunes format conversion techn...

Re: Plugins Installation

Do you have OS-X set to display filename extensions? Desktop > Finder > Preferences > Advanced > Show All File Extensions. After you do that, you may find that you don't have to "install" the tools. They're already in a form suitable to drop straight into the plug-ins folder. [VerySpecialE...

Re: Recording while simultaneously playing the 1st track?

OK, so you have been there already. I would go to all the control panels they will let you access and turn everything off. Forget the speakers for a minute and go with the bouncing light sound meters. In earlier Windows versions, they would let you into the RECORD and the PLAY panels independently b...

Re: Recording while simultaneously playing the 1st track?

Your machine is recording "Mix Out" or "What You Hear" in addition to the desired show. Sound In and Sound Out are two different sound devices on Windows (and Linux) machines. Each device can play and record with any other device, so normal people will never ever figure out what'...

Re: import & export of tracks

Windows, as of Windows 2000 supports Wave Format Extensible which will cheerfully support 18 sound channels. They label them Top-Left-Rear and stuff like that, but there's no reason you couldn't use that to transmit your 16 track mix back and forth--assuming you could get Audacity to support it. Som...

Re: import & export of tracks

<<<it appears Audacity is a very "fragile" system>>> I would have stopped the sentence there. 1.2.x is quite an old software package. It is two major versions old counting 1.3 Beta and the soon-to-released 1.4. Vista and Leopard (Windows/Mac) did result in a few interesting challenges for ...

Do you want me to continue to post problems? 2:49 pm Pacific...Connection took too long to Respond. Try Again??

I tried again a minute or so later. It succeeded, but I got a double post.
