You got the wrong lame. The Carbon version is for the Motorola Power PC like the old Mac PowerBook that I'm typing this on. You want the one for the newer Intel processors which is what's inside your MacBook. Do an Apple > About this Mac. I bet you don't see the words "Power PC." Koz

Which OS-X? Which machine? And exactly which lame did you download?
All the lame library files come packaged. You did explode (decompress) the file before you tried to use it, right?
